If it seems like we've been hearing a lot about drones lately, that's only because drone stories are everywhere. Drones are fighting wars for us overseas. Drones were apparently involved in the hunt for the cop killer Christopher Dorner.

Find Apps that Work with the Galaxy Note 2 Multi Window Feature

Find Apps that Work with the Galaxy Note 2 Multi Window Feature | Tech and the Future of Integration | Scoop.it
If you haven't heard, the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 has a pretty nifty feature that only recently started to get press. It is called multi-window, and it allows use
Skip Stein's insight:

The Multi-Window is really great but unfortunately most of my apps can't use it.  As a result, I seldom activate the functionality.  The Ubuntu interface is very similar running on Droid Note 2 and allows any app to be set up in the side-bar.  Not multi-window functioning but achieves much of the same convenience.

This 3D-Printed Moon Base Might Be The Future Of Space Exploration

This 3D-Printed Moon Base Might Be The Future Of Space Exploration | Tech and the Future of Integration | Scoop.it
If we’ve ever gotten a bit carried away with our excitement about 3D-printing’s potential to change the world, we apologize.
Skip Stein's insight:

First we can print guns and parts for assembly of just about anything.  Now we can use moon dust to create bases on the Moon?  Amazing!

With so much potential for the Human Race, how can idiots in Washington be so worried about their own little power centers and control when the Universe awaits?  It just shows how small minded these idiot really are.

We need another Jack Kennedy to inspire US and the Planet towards greater things, not self serving, egomaniacle short term objectives to control a little Planet on the outskirts of an insignificant Galaxy.  We CAN be better than this!

DEMAND that WE, Humanity, BE better than this!

With Resources Running Short, It’s Time To Move To A Circular Economy

With Resources Running Short, It’s Time To Move To A Circular Economy | Tech and the Future of Integration | Scoop.it
On average, developed-world citizens consume 1,764 pounds of food and drink annually, 265 pounds of packaging, and 44 pounds of new clothing and shoes--80% of which finds its way to incinerators, landfill, or wastewater.
Skip Stein's insight:

Our disposable and wasteful economic model must change.  Centralization of resources and government is a thing of the past.  With more localization of resources (power generation, food, manufacturing) utilizing current and technology on the horizon, we have the resources necessary to regionalize and localize more rural communities.  Cities are inefficient and no longer necessary for commerce; with broadband and future communication technologies, we can live/work just about anywhere on the planet.

As new fabrication technologies develop, like 3-D printing of parts, only assembly will be necessary and manufacturing on demand.  This reduces the vast monies tied up in 'inventory' which will no longer be necessary.  Localized food production (like hydroponics: http://www.foody-hydroponics.com/) can provide local resources for food almost 12 months/year.

This is a huge Planet with plenty of space that can accommodate environmentally friendly dispersion of human population.  This reduces focused concentration of pollution (reduces factory farms and distribution networks) and spreads communities more evenly.  Power, food production, and other resources can be distributed in a more localized fashion reducing the need for long distance transportation of many goods, foods, services.

The Future Tech will support and enable all of this, IFF we can keep the INTERNET FREE!  Fight to maintain a free and open exchange of ideas, concepts and knowledge.  Fight against strictures and limiting technologies (like patented GMO of the food supplies).  FREEDOM is the key to Humanity’s Survival!

Look out: close encounters of the asteroidal kind (ScienceAlert) | Tech and the Future of Integration | Scoop.it
When it comes to asteroids, alert but not alarmed may be the best approach.
Skip Stein's insight:

Given that the Earth is just 12,756km wide, that is REALLY CLOSE!  Makes you think about how Obama canceled the Space Program huh?  Makes you realize how silly and insignificant all these silly religious idiotic wars are too.  All the killing, the massive amounts spent on military killing each other on this tiny planet, all the while, LIFE on this Blue Marble could be totally wiped out in seconds.

Happened to the dinosaurs, can happen to US too!  Just think about it!

Broad Powers Seen for Obama in Cyberstrikes

Broad Powers Seen for Obama in Cyberstrikes | Tech and the Future of Integration | Scoop.it
The administration is moving to approve the nation’s first rules for how the military can defend, or retaliate, against a major cyberattack.
Skip Stein's insight:

It seems that Congress is allowing Obama to dictate terms of war without Congressional Approval.  So far his judgment is suspect to say the least.  His arrogance could instigate a cyber-war in conjunction with his physical drone attacks.  How can we let this one man effectively declare war and murder people at his whim or simple declaration of an ‘enemy’?  The definitions are cloudy at best and give an open field at worst.  Any 'enemy' that Obama declares threatens National Security or is 'linked' to terrorism in any way is a potential target!  Will my posts against Obama's dictatorial ways be considered a threat?  Are YOU in danger if you repost 'Anonymous' postings?  How far can he go?

Congress had totally abdicated their 'check and balance' role in the triple balance of our Constitutional Government allowing Obama to run rampant and willfully do what he pleases!  All they have to do to STOP him is to cease funding for any measures this egomaniacal want to be dictator proclaims.  But they sit on their asses doing little or nothing.

Wither freedom, wither liberty

Wither freedom, wither liberty | Tech and the Future of Integration | Scoop.it
Robert Higgs is an author and senior fellow for The Independent Institute, an Oakland, Calif., nonpartisan organization that sponsors studies on key social and economic
Skip Stein's insight:

We have suffered multiple tragedies since the original 9/11 terrorist attack.  The knee-jerk reactions by Washington have so over-reacted  with the Patriot Act and so many other Executive Orders that our Freedom has dwindled dramatically.  We need to stop the fear mongering and focus on Freedom and Liberty.  Strike back viciously and effectively when attached, but otherwise, stay the hell out of foreign domestic affairs.  Over the decades, the idiots in Washington have picked the wrong side in many/most of these issues.  Support FREEDOM but do not interfere!

Lessons from Star Trek were never properly learned: Non-Interference!

PCRM | Dairy Products Increase Risk of Prostate Cancer

PCRM | Dairy Products Increase Risk of Prostate Cancer | Tech and the Future of Integration | Scoop.it
Dairy products can increase the risk of prostate cancer, according to a new study published in the Journal of Nutrition.

"Dairy products can increase the risk of prostate cancer, according to a new study published in the Journal of Nutrition. Researchers tracked data from 21,660 participants in the Physicians Heath Study for 28 years. Those who consumed more than 2.5 servings of dairy products per day were at a 12 percent increased risk of prostate cancer, compared with those who consumed less than half a serving (one serving equals an 8-ounce glass of milk or 2 ounces of cheese). For skim milk, men were at increased risk for early stage prostate cancer. For whole milk, men drinking more than 1 glass per day had double the risk for fatal prostate cancer, compared with men drinking less. The authors concluded that this study further adds to the connection between dairy intake and prostate cancer."
