Stephen Downes en su OLDaily hizo un comentario sobre el eLearning: El contenido de Khan Academy y el MacGuffin -> "algo que provoca aprendizaje, pero no lo es".

 

Esto ha servido a Audrey Walters para escribir un artículo muy interesante en el blog HACK (HIGHER) EDUCATION que intenta explicar lo que Downes quiere decir.

 

En realidad es un punto de arranque al aprendizaje, como dice Audrey un "gancho". En las películas de suspense, un MacGuffin fue definido por Hitchcock como algo que provoca intriga y motiva el desarrollo de la historia pero no es relevante en sí mismo.

 

En educación, el hardware, el software, el contenido, las herramientas pueden ser esa "excusa argumental" pero luego se necesitan las personas, las conexiones y los procesos...

 

Me gusta este post porque me parece muy cierto el enfoque pero también porque he aprendido lo que es un MacGuffin.

 

He ido a la Wikipedia y he encontrado algunos MacGuffins famosos. Por ejemplo, la misteriosa palabra "Rosebud" pronunciada por el moribundo Kane (Ciudadano) al comienzo de la película.

 

Y además aparece una cita del libro "El cine según Hitchcock" de F.Truffaut donde el mago del suspense explica lo que es. La trascribo porque me ha encantado:

 

"La palabra procede del music-hall. Van dos hombres en un tren y uno de ellos le dice al otro “¿Qué es ese paquete que hay en el maletero que tiene sobre su cabeza?”. El otro contesta: “Ah, eso es un McGuffin”. El primero insiste: “¿Qué es un McGuffin?”, y su compañero de viaje le responde: “Un MacGuffin es un aparato para cazar leones en los Adirondacks”. “Pero si en los Adirondacks no hay leones”, le espeta el primer hombre. “Entonces eso de ahí no es un MacGuffin”, le responde el otro".
