Here is the textbook that I created/curated for teaching my New Media Technology class during the Spring semester of 2012 at Hannam University's Linton Global College. I took great effort to give credit where it is due. I aimed to show my students how they could access enough free info on the web that was of equal or greater value than the wonderful information found in expensive textbooks. Feel free to share and please support the true authors of this book in any way you can (money, likes, blog comments, links, etc.) I am simply the currator of this content. I know a lot of people view curation as a buzz word devoid of meaning, but I like the metaphor!

This infographic takes a look at some key social media statistics from around the globe. Did you know that Japan is the only major country where Twitter is more popular than Facebook? This year, Pinterest has seen enormous growth in the U.S. – the highest increase rate of anywhere in the world – and India is now just behind the United Kingdom in LinkedIn use, with 15 million people using the site. And they’re not planning to stop there, as India is tipped to become Facebook’s largest market by 2015... Via Lauren Moss

This could be a great way to make presentations more interactive. Have to think about it though. I'm not sure I want people tweeting through the whole talk.

How I became a convert to Twitter • The teaching and education community on Twitter is truly inspirational...
Twitter is a fantastic collaborative tool. As teachers, how often do we get to visit other schools? In my experience, very rarely. Twitter has enabled me to collaborate with teachers in schools across the country. Combine this with cloud services such as DropBox and Google Docs and you can create and share resources and ideas quickly and easily.
The site is also a great place for discussion. It is amazing how creative you can be in 140 characters. Teachers, academics, technologists and other experts come together on Twitter to chat and discuss a whole range of topics – you can follow and contribute to these discussions by using hash tags.
