Drucker’s Knowledge Worker in the Age of Social Media: Content Curation for Professional Development

Drucker’s Knowledge Worker in the Age of Social Media: Content Curation for Professional Development | teaching with technology | Scoop.it

"Over half a century ago, management guru Peter Drucker presented the concept of the knowledge worker. Compared to the manual laborer, the knowledge worker focused on quality over quantity and worked more independently as problem solvers."

Over the many applications of Social Content Curation, Professional Development has been a strong trend. We keep observing it on Scoop.it but it's also been reported by Social Media influencers.

As more and more of us become Knowledge Worker, it should be no suprise that Content takes a growing importance on our Professional lives. So here's our take on it and why we announced this new integration with LinkedIn earlier today.

5 Free Social Bookmarking Tools I Use Every Day - Edudemic

5 Free Social Bookmarking Tools I Use Every Day - Edudemic | teaching with technology | Scoop.it
Most people I talk to have some sort of what might best be called an online routine. You know, the when and how of approaching what you need and want to see on the web each day. Personally, I take a scroll through my email, a few social media sites, and a couple of news …
Louise Robinson-Lay's insight:

Busy people seem to like lists. Anything that breaks down a complex set of ideas into a handy formula makes life easier for us. This list is a point in case. Using a few social bookmarking tools can help you to keep abreast of innovation and the latest news. While some of these are tools I personally do not use any more ( Delicious, for example) they all have merit. I would add an RSS feed, something like Flipboard or Pulse probably just so I could have it all coming together each day in one place. I would also add my Netvibes page. Setting it as a browser homepage has saved ( and most likely wasted!) time for me.

Can anyone be a data journalist? Simon Rogers on what we can learn from a 1977 diagram
Louise Robinson-Lay's insight:

Create some data, punk! This, post brings the DIY ethos of early punk to the use of data on the internet. Sounds a bit simplistic? Well it is. The data does need to be verifiable and reasonable and you do need the know how to put it in a readily digestible form. That said, this post does offer some advice for people wishing to do more with data online.

OneNote now on Mac, free everywhere, and service powered | Office Blogs | teaching with technology | Scoop.it
When we started OneNote we set out to revolutionize the way people capture, annotate, and recall all the ideas, thoughts, snippets and plans in their life. As many of you have attested, OneNote is the ultimate extension for your brain, but it’s not complete if it’s not instantly available everywhere. We’ve already made a lot of progress in that direction with our mobile, tablet and online web experiences. But there was still a gap. People frequently asked us for OneNote on Mac, and for more ways to capture content.
