Capture Student Work with Seesaw - The Learning Journal - ClassTechTips.com | Teaching with Tablets | Scoop.it
I’m very excited about the new learning journal app Seesaw which can help teachers and parents connect with students and keep track of their school work.  Seesaw is a simple way for students as young as 5 to independently document what they are learning at school.  It empowers students to take more ownership of their learning.

ISTE - 6 elements of a successful iPad implementation

ISTE - 6 elements of a successful iPad implementation | Teaching with Tablets | Scoop.it

 - As more districts across the United States move to 1:1 initiatives, a common barrier is financial resources, and a common temptation is to regard these initiatives as technology enterprises rather than instructional transformations. In a three-year pilot project, the Boulder Valley School District (BVSD) addressed these challenges by implementing a creative approach designed to entice public funders by providing all students with equitable access to digital devices.

Confronting Fears - #BYOD for Students

Confronting Fears - #BYOD for Students | Teaching with Tablets | Scoop.it

"While most adults understand the benefits of students having cell phones in school to stay in touch with parents for safety purposes, when it comes to classroom use, some have fears. These include concerns over data collection, privacy, being a distraction, replacing personal interaction, discipline, theft, use for bullying, and more.

The concerns are real and they don't only apply to cell phone use. It's no different when doing many things at first: Crossing the street, using pointy scissors, talking to strangers, swimming, riding a bike, and more. While all of these activities have risks, because of their advantages, rather than banning them, we patiently guide children to do them with care and scrutiny. Personal devices are no different."

How To Create Interactive Lessons for the iPad - Daily Genius

How To Create Interactive Lessons for the iPad - Daily Genius | Teaching with Tablets | Scoop.it

"As a teacher, you are used to create your own lessons. The xerox, Microsoft Word, and PowerPoint are your trusted companions. But how can you effectively use iPads in your lessons?

The ebooks provided by publishers are mostly static and just not interesting enough for today’s students. Some educational apps are great, but finding the rights ones, figuring out how they work and getting them installed on all student devices can be a hassle.

Aren’t there easy ways to create your own materials for iPad? Yes, there are! Try these:"

Classroom Scrapheap to Resource Powerhouse with Evernote - FRACTUS LEARNING

Classroom Scrapheap to Resource Powerhouse with Evernote - FRACTUS LEARNING | Teaching with Tablets | Scoop.it

"Evernote is not so much a productivity tool as it is a religion for many of its die-hard users. As educators we are very good at accumulating documents, notes, ideas and an endless pile of great resources. But where many of us fall short, is storing them in an organized and searchable fashion. This is where Evernote can step in and turn that mess of papers, links, bookmarks and napkin scraps into a powerhouse of easy to find education resources."

Easily create an eBook with these 3 powerful apps - Daily Genius

Easily create an eBook with these 3 powerful apps - Daily Genius | Teaching with Tablets | Scoop.it
Digital books are transforming the way students of all ages learn today. The interactive elements of digital books enhance the learning experience, making it far more informative and interesting than before. Many teachers today are embracing this new media and producing some high quality student-made eBooks in their classrooms.

One of the most fascinating ways to create an eBook is using a mobile device, particularly, an iPad. StoryKit, Book Writer, and Book Creator are 3 apps my students have used to create some highly interactive, professionally looking eBooks. All three apps are excellent examples of tools that allow students to unleash their creativity and tell their own stories.
