Recordium - Add Visual Notes to Audio Recordings

Recordium - Add Visual Notes to Audio Recordings | Teaching Tools Today | Scoop.it
Recordium is a new iPad and iPhone for creating audio recordings. At first glance the app reminded me Sound Cloud. Like Sound Cloud, Recordium can be used to quickly create a spoken note or to record someone playing an instrument. Recordium can be used to trim the end or beginning of a recording. You can also snip out a middle portion of a recording and save it as a separate recording or trash it. Where Recordium gets interesting is in the annotation features. The app allows you to highlight and tag portions of your recordings. Your tags can even include pictures. Completed recordings can be shared to a number of services including Google Drive and Evernote.

Education Apps

Homeschool FL's curator insight, June 2, 2013 8:33 PM

Educational apps are popping up daily, but the question for parents is, how to know which ones are worth using, and which ones are not? Because let's face it, the app industry is out to make money, and many times app developers are very astute at making an app that "looks" educational, but in reality is just full of ads and sneaky ways of getting your children to buy something.

10 Steps to a Successful School iPad Program

10 Steps to a Successful School iPad Program | Teaching Tools Today | Scoop.it

iPads have certainly become a highly desired commodity in education. Apple is reporting that schools are purchasing iPads by a ratio of 2:1 over MacBooks. However, that rush to purchase the latest technologies often precedes the careful planning and preparation that’s crucial to their success as educational tools.

Stated simply, technology alone doesn’t have the capacity to improve education. It needs to be woven into a holistic approach to education that encompasses thorough planning and ongoing review of the skills and competencies required by the rapidly changing society that characterizes life in the 21st century.

Using E-Portfolios in the Classroom

Using E-Portfolios in the Classroom | Teaching Tools Today | Scoop.it

With more and more schools going paperless or migrating to the "cloud" (storing files on the Internet), student work has become more easily shareable, accessible by many, and more easily organized. Many teachers have turned to digital portfolios -- or "e-portfolios" -- for their students. These digital portfolios have caused a huge shift in how teachers assign, collect and assess student classwork and projects.

Impressive, Ludmilla!! Love PBworks as well.
Rebecca Delabrer's curator insight, October 5, 2014 9:45 PM

This article describes how student's work in school used to be more private and usually only seen by the teacher if it was done on paper. Now that schools are resorting to "paperless" classrooms, children's work is becoming much more easy to share and find and other things.

I don't think schools should go paperless. The internet is a dangerous place, especially for dumb kids our age. Not only that but the internet allows kids to cheat a lot easier than they already do now so it's promoting cheating indirectly.

Brad Ovenell-Carter's curator insight, May 21, 2013 1:29 PM

I apprecaite the diffficulties in implementing a 1:1 program, especially where none has existed before. But we need to see a 1:1 as merely a first step toward an multi-devices model.

The problem with 1:1 programs is that the focus on a single, common device or a single type of device. e.g. a laptop, in a BYOD environment. That notion is inherently restrictive. And it's not sustainable: a healthy ecosystem--and we should think of schools as learning ecosystems--is heterogenous; the more homogenous it is the more vulnerable it is.

Our users--our students--need to be able to connect with whatever device they happen to have at the moment be it a laptop, tablet or smartphone. We can start with the idea of 1:1 so long as we remember it is not the end goal. We need to make sure whatever structures we put in place to support a 1:1 model easily scales up to support multiple devices...the ∞:1 program.
