I am currently a 4th year student studying a Bachelor of Education at the University of Southern Queensland. This 'scoop' is a collection of information and resources to assist educators in the implementation of the technology education in Australian schools. I plan on curating information around what skills and knowledge teacher need to ensure that they are able to successfully implement the Australian Curriculum, Technology stand.

Andrew Churches created this flowchart to demonstrate the characteristics that educators need aquire to successfully teach in the 21st Century. 

Within the constantly changing environment of todays classrooms, teachers need to be able to adapt and respond correctly to enable for successful education. Educators need to ensure that they are endeavouring to stay ahead of technological trends that their students are engaging regularly with. 

For this to successfully occur educators need certain characteristics to allow them to function effectively as 21st Century teachers. 


In relation to technology education and more specifically the implementation of the Australian Curriculum, Technology strand educators need to ensure they have these characteristics that Andrew Churches has mentioned. 

Risk taking is one that educators need to ensure that they have when it comes to technology integration within the classroom. Technology can be seen as daunting and challenging however teachers need to take the risk and ensure that for the sake of their students that they endeavour to integrate technology into the classroom on a regular basis.

By using QR codes in education the teacher is meeting the requirements of the Australian Curriculum: Technologies strand. 


I wasn't aware how easy it is to use QR codes. I would definitely think about using them in the future when I am teaching.

This augmented reality app for exploring the solar system I believe is a great resource for educators. 

It could be used with students of any age. 

It specifically relates to the year 5 science curriculum. 

It also could be used with year 5 Digital Technologies - Knowledge and Understanding. This resource is a fantastic interactive learning tool. I have never used augmented reality apps before this, but this has started my interest in these awesome apps.
