What can I do for you? | Teaching in the XXI century | Scoop.it

In the twenty-first century we are faced with a basic rule. When someone has their survival strategy based on knowledge of a single technology is doomed to failure. Nevertheless, if this strategy is based on constant updating and lifelong learning so it's easier to augur success.

"You plan. You assess. You network. You collaborate. You tweet, differentiate, administer literacy probes, scour 504s and IEPs, use technology, and inspire thinking. And for all of this, you’re given bar graphs on tests to show if what you’re doing is actually making a difference. But there are other data points you should consider as well."

Chineasy Promo - YouTube

Learn to read and write Chinese with Chineasy—a groundbreaking approach that transforms key Chinese characters into pictograms for easy recall and comprehension.

Chinese is one of the oldest written languages, and one of the most difficult to master, especially for Westerners. With Chineasy, learning and reading Chinese has never been simpler or more fun. Breaking down the Great Wall of Language, iShaoLan Hsueh draws on her entrepreneurial and cultural background to create a simple system for quickly understanding the basic building blocks of written Chinese. Working with renowned illustrator Noma Bar, she transforms Chinese characters into charming pictograms that are easy to remember.

In Chineasy, she teaches the key characters, called radicals, that are the language’s foundation, and then shows how they can be combined to form new words and even phrases. Once you’ve mastered these key characters, you can practice your skills with three stories—a fairy tale, an Asian legend, and a contemporary fable—told using the radicals.

With Chineasy, readers of all ages will be able to navigate a Chinese menu, read signs and billboards, and grasp the meaning of most articles in a Chinese newspaper.

How Elearning Is Disrupting The Seat Time = Mediocrity Formula - Skilledup.com | Teaching in the XXI century | Scoop.it

"A nation cannot expect to be great when its citizens are educated by a system effectively designed to produce mediocre people. Every person deserves to be as great as her or his potential allows. With the educational concept of mastery we can move our people and country forward to a better life. The decision to change lies in the hands of legislators, boards of education, administrators and educators. We owe it to the students to raise them from mediocrity to mastery."

The Learning Revolution Conference

The Learning Revolution Conference | Teaching in the XXI century | Scoop.it

"We are very pleased to announce a special pair of unique complementary events--one virtual and one physical--to bring together people who are thinking about the learning that is happening within (but often not across) our important learning places: the school, library, museum, work, adult, online, non-traditional, and home learning worlds.

We want to explore and bridge the conversations about teaching and learning that are common to these worlds--this includes: learning theory, learning practice, learning science, learning space design, and technology for learning. The Internet is shifting the boundaries of these worlds, and we believe that they will increasingly overlap and integrate, and that the conversations we will have at these two events are critical to framing and preparing for the learning revolution starting to take place.

THE LEARNING REVOLUTION CONFERENCE will be held April 21 - 25, online and free, in conference format, with special keynote speakers the evenings of April 21 - 23, and then with both keynotes and hourly sessions for full days on April 24 and 25. The call for proposals is now open and we encourage all to participate. As with our other virtual conference events, we are soliciting for our international advisory board, for conference partner organizations, and for sponsors."
