Your customers, prospects, and the people looking for you online don’t care about your company structure. If they find you on Twitter, or leave a comment on your blog, they’re looking for a response from anyone who can help, regardless of what department that person represents or what someone’s official job title is.
Everybody in your company is in marketing, whether they want to be or not.
The people in your company today should have the characteristics and confidence to succeed in this environment. Let the ubiquity and speed of communication empower your staff to act and be helpful, no matter where they are on the organizational chart.
Social media and real-time business affects every employee in your organization in some way. Your official social media team—the people tasked with developing and maintaining your social outposts and real-time customer connectivity—are a critical part of your approach. When optimizing your RSS Feed, you have to consider the kind of content you curate. There are several reasons why you may want to use your feed to generate clicks. Interesting and very informative piece by Brian Solis for Social Media Today.
This is part 6 of a series of posts where Brian introduces his new Book The End of Business as Usual.
I must tell you that if you haven't gotten a copy of this book, you should, it is excellent, timely and relevant!
To paraphrase - social media is becoming part of our cultural fabric and even as we witness businesses, governments, sports teams, and almost every organization socialize communication efforts today,
****much of what we see is merely the beginning of something that will one day become something far more important than the medium itself.
****it is about how people are spending their time, interacting and connecting with one another, and what happens as a result.
To demonstrate the point, there are some profound findings from the recently released Nielsen Social Media Report.

Finding focus is rapidly becoming the biggest workplace challenge. We highlight a handful of apps to help cure internet addictions and better manage your time.
Great article, we can all use a little help in this area
A recent happiness study from Matthew Killingsworth and Daniel Gilbert found that the more our minds wander, the less happy we are.
Summing the research, the New York Times wrote, "Whatever people were doing, whether it was having sex or reading or shopping, they tended to be happier if they focused on the activity instead of thinking about something else."
**In short, being mentally "present" and focused on the task at hand really does matter – quite a lot, in fact.
