How to optimize your blog’s RSS feed

How to optimize your blog’s RSS feed | Teaching in the XXI century | Scoop.it

Your RSS Feed is sometimes the only way your visitors experience what you have to offer on a regular basis.

It serves to inform and entertain, but is also an essential tool for driving traffic back to your website and improving your overall search-engine ranking.

If all your feed does is show a poorly formatted excerpt of your posts, the hundreds of visitors who are not hitting your main site everyday will have no reason to read your content or share it with others.

When optimizing your RSS Feed, you have to consider the kind of content you curate. There are several reasons why you may want to use your feed to generate clicks. You may have a product, feature or art-directed element to your full site that needs exposure, or your content may be largely image-driven...

A Klout Upside the Head

A Klout Upside the Head | Teaching in the XXI century | Scoop.it

I’ve been an observer of things Klouty for a while now. But I’ve been darned if I could work up a lot of excitement over it, positive OR negative. Until now.

I got pointed to a post on the Klout blog today about their reworked formula. Since I haven’t any accounts linked to their service, I didn’t have much reason to care.

But then I began to read the comment thread, and I was transfixed. The first comment set the tone: “My score went from 73 down to 53. 20 point drop. I’ve been working for months to increase my Klout score. Please fix this.”...

YouTube Gets Free, Cloud-Based Video Editing Thanks To New WeVideo Integration

YouTube Gets Free, Cloud-Based Video Editing Thanks To New WeVideo Integration | Teaching in the XXI century | Scoop.it
WeVideo, a newly launched cloud-based collaborative video editing platform, is today announcing integration with YouTube. Starting this afternoon, YouTube users will be able to access a basic version of WeVideo’s online service in order to edit their video clips by adding titles, effects, animation, music, narration and more.

The editing tool will be provided directly on YouTube itself at YouTube.com/create.

To be clear, WeVideo is not the only editing tool that Google’s online service provides, but it hopes to soon to be the most robust. YouTube’s own editor is fairly basic, and other tools like Magisto are more limited in scope. With WeVideo, the goal is to bring a more full-featured, professional-grade video-editing solution to the cloud that’s also easy enough for anyone to use...

3 Tools To Massively Increase Your Twitter Exposure

3 Tools To Massively Increase Your Twitter Exposure | Teaching in the XXI century | Scoop.it

While Facebook and Google Plus social continue to push new features live, battling themselves over who can dominate the market, Twitter remains the most powerful driver of traffic to my site.

Ever since the t.co shortener was introduced, I can see it showing up at the top of my referrers at any given day.

This is very powerful and also quite reassuring. Continuing to improve and work on my Twitter performance has paid off greatly so far.

The 5 Critical Social Media Skills You Need To Disperse

The 5 Critical Social Media Skills You Need To Disperse | Teaching in the XXI century | Scoop.it

Your customers, prospects, and the people looking for you online don’t care about your company structure. If they find you on Twitter, or leave a comment on your blog, they’re looking for a response from anyone who can help, regardless of what department that person represents or what someone’s official job title is.

Everybody in your company is in marketing, whether they want to be or not.

The people in your company today should have the characteristics and confidence to succeed in this environment. Let the ubiquity and speed of communication empower your staff to act and be helpful, no matter where they are on the organizational chart.

Social media and real-time business affects every employee in your organization in some way. Your official social media team—the people tasked with developing and maintaining your social outposts and real-time customer connectivity—are a critical part of your approach. But the rest of your employees are equally important to consider, as many of them will have to incorporate some measure of new responsibilities into their existing job functions...
