6 of The Best TED Ed Riddles to Use with Students in Class ~ Educational Technology and Mobile Learning6 of The Best TED Ed Riddles to Use with Students in Class 1 | Teaching in Higher Education | Scoop.it

TED Ed is one of our favourite video resources we have been recommending for teachers over the last few years. It features short video explanations (usually less than 5 minutes long) covering different educational topics. The clips are professionally animated using a wide range of visual illustrations to hook in the viewers and keep them engaged. We have already shared some very good TED Ed videos on Math, writing, and several other subject areas. In today’s post we want to highlight some challenging TED Ed riddles to share with your students. These are short brain teasers to engage your students in problem solving activities in which they have to make use of different learning skills to solve the riddles. Here is the list:

9 educational technology trends that will rule in 2016 | Teaching in Higher Education | Scoop.it

"Nowadays, technology has changed the world, be it the technology in education or technology in any sector of the economy. It surely has changed the global platform. You can stay connected to each other, whether you are near or far away. Technology has enhanced the social media impacts on our lives. It looks so hard to imagine life without technology, there is no charm in life without technology, so by summing up it becomes the essential part of our life and need of the world as well."

Amanda Eve Avila's curator insight, April 5, 11:44 AM
In the article, “9 educational technology trends that will rule in 2016” it talks about the different technologies that we will see being used in 2016. Technology continues to be enhanced at a rapid pace and it has become a habit to use in our daily lives. In schools, technology is becoming advanced and it is being used in classrooms in different ways. Some private schools are using smart boards and students are required to have their own iPad or tablet. If schools are requiring to use iPad or tablets then they use apps for books and learning activities. It will be interesting to see how technology advances in schools. I know that technology will have an even more impact in our lives in the future than it does now. Schools are trying to get different exciting ways to help students learn in a fun hands on way. I hope technology doesn't advance too much in the future that it takes over actual teachers. It was informative and interesting reading the nine different ways that technology will be used in education in 2016.

I think MOOCs have yet to find their place; I think their value is still evolving. Not too long ago I read about lifelong learning being the 5th most critical skill for 2025. As stacked credentials and digital badges come into their own, I think MOOCs will do the same for on-going learning, for trans- and interdisciplinary learning we're going to see increasingly important throughout our global economy.

A flipped classroom is one where the lectures become the homework and the traditional homework tasks take place in the lesson time. Why banning technology is not the answer

Our aim should be to build learning environments which are highly engaging, relevant and valued by all involved, if the learning is only relevant to the teacher then perhaps it should be changed or its significance to the students made clear. Understanding how our connected devices bring new opportunities to make connections beyond the four walls of our classrooms is an essential understanding to be developed. Effective teachers will show their students the power that such connections offer and encourage students to make full use of all of the tools at their disposal.
