This is an excellent piece of advice that I have shared before with my readers, and still holds true today.  When you are asked questions by interviewers to identify negative situations, results, or performance...position the response in a positive way.

For example, if you are asked by the interviewer "What is one of your weaknesses as a leader?"

Sample response:  You could respond...One of the areas of opportunity that I identified this year to develop is ______.  What I have been doing to strengthen in this areas is ______ and _______.

Read the article to uncover other tips on what to do to ace your interview.

Don't hope they don't ask! Be prepared for the negative questions.

Sherry McGhay's curator insight, January 26, 2014 1:29 PM

It's never a mistake to keep a positive attitude!

This site is new to me but it looks like a great resource and Joyce Valenza has an in-depth post that shares many great features. It is easy to search for movies - alphabetically, age, subject and more. The learning guides include "Learning guides include a description, rationale for using the film, student learning objectives, potential problems for using the film, discussion questions, and assignment and assessment ideas, social-emotional learning discussion questions, bridges to reading, web links, selected awards, cast and director information, and bibliographies."

Do you use movies in your clasroom or are you interested in using them? If so check out this post.

Penelope's curator insight, January 17, 2014 8:00 PM

I'm finding you don't normally run into a word problem until you begin the editing process--then the trouble begins!

Sometimes the right word will just appear like manna from heaven--ah. So sweet. Other times? Your brain zips up tight and zip, nada, nothing.

This article is very timely for me as I am editing my first romance novel. Life dictated I put it away for a couple of months, and now some of the errors are glaring, others not so much.

Here are the 5 key ways to find that right word, but you'll have to click on over to the article for full details:

1. Identify Weak and Repetitive Phrases

2. Brainstorm Alternatives

3. Aim for an Emotional Response

4. Get Specific

5. Don’t Settle
