This is very informative for anyone who speaks in public. The moral of this Slideshare is to keep quiet about your internal dialogue. When you speak, everything you say should benefit your audience. When you ask the audience to sympathize with you, you take away from their experience. Sharing stories and taking questions is great, apologizing for being unprepared and talking about yourself is not. Great article.

Finding copyright-friendly photos for the Google Images generation | Teaching and Learning techniques | Scoop.it

Searching and citing usable images is easy once students learn the basics. Teaching students to respect the intellectual property of others is important in this digital “cut and paste” world we live in. One great project to share with students that can better help them understand how and when they may use images created by others is the Creative Commons project.

I saw this curated on Wordsummit's blog, and found it fascinating. Had to share it myself! This is not about typography or design, nor is it about linguistics and language. It's about both--and then some. We talk about localization and translation often in content strategy. Reading this added a new dimension to my method of thinking about it. Danielle M. Villegas's curator insight, September 17, 2014 10:27 AM

Wow! How cool is this? While the price point is still well out of my budget, it is certainly more affordable than many of its competitors, the biggest one being MakerBot. I think what appeals to me is that Dremel is a well-known brand associated with quality and with providing tools that are user-friendly in the creative arena. So, I have a feeling that this new tool will certainly be reaching for that same quality and user experience.  Time will tell if it truly can compete with other 3D printers on the market in regards to ease of use as well as the quality of the final output products.

Dremel, if you are reading this, I'm more than happy to be a reviewer/tester for this product! ;-)

I wish some of this technology had come out sooner! It's so good to see that there's some actual data to back the concept that these are invaluable tools for autistic kids, and for those with communications disabilities in general.

These technologies offer perhaps unheard of opportunities for learning. Such technologies will place enormous pressure on traditional modes of operation and thus will elicit a tendency towards a false dichotomy. Some will see the new technologies as a panacea for the ills of the present and past; others will wish to hold on to the positive aspects of current practice and thus dismiss the new technologies. The reality will be the technological advances will continue to arrive. increasingly they will be of a kind that enhance learning through human interfaces developments. It is critical we look openly at the opportunities they provide and carefully protect the values and opportunities that humans as relational creatures need to thrive.
