7 Fabulous iPad apps to create short animations for your flipped classroom - ICT @ Clayfield College

7 Fabulous iPad apps to create short animations for your flipped classroom - ICT @ Clayfield College | Teaching and learning | Scoop.it

"Flipped learning or flipped classroom is a learning concept that has been making some huge uproar within educational circles for the last couple of years. Flipped classroom is not a new concept as some would argue but only the advance of technology particularly the mobile and handheld gadgetry brought it to the surface and gave it more prominence . I have written profusely about this teaching/learning strategy and  Flipped Learning Resources section here in Educational Technology and Mobile Learning features some of these materials.

Today, however, I am sharing with you a set of some wonderful apps that you can use to create short video lessons and tutorials to share with your students."

14 things that are obsolete in 21st century schools

14 things that are obsolete in 21st century schools | Teaching and learning | Scoop.it
Saying that it has always been this way, doesn’t count as a legitimate justification to why it should stay that way. Teacher and administrators all over the world are doing amazing things, but some of the things we are still doing, despite all the new solutions, research and ideas out there is, to put it mildly, incredible. I’m not saying we should just make the current system better… we should change it into something else.

iPads in Teaching - What Are They For? - Ideas Out There

iPads in Teaching - What Are They For? - Ideas Out There | Teaching and learning | Scoop.it
"This picture was drawn in response to a post called 'Drawing On A Napkin: Is This How iPads Function In A Traditional Classroom?' by the esteemed Terry Heick. Mine was not drawn on a napkin, but on Notability. And, to answer that snarky Johannesburg based iPad trainer who cannot believe I can do what I do using the iPad, yes I did create it myself! This is what I think iPads are 'for' in education. Let me know what you think."

How One Classroom Actually Used iPads To Go Paperless (Part 1: Research) | Edudemic | Teaching and learning | Scoop.it

A look at what hapened at Plymouth South High School last year when one class "attempted to transform the traditional research process to a completely paperless one using a fresh cart of iPads."

A number of goals were "outlined prior to the research process" and included (quoting from the post):

* Students will crowd-source their research to a collective research group.

* Students will incorporate varied media types into their research: web based text, traditional text, audio and video.

* Students will work collaboratively with their teacher and classmates on their research and writing process.

* Students will become proficient researching and writing in a digital environment.

The post alos discusses the process of going paperles and  "moving forward and going paperless."

10 Fundamental Apps for Your New iPad ~ Educational Technology and Mobile Learning

10 Fundamental Apps for Your New iPad ~ Educational Technology and Mobile Learning | Teaching and learning | Scoop.it
"So congrats you've got your new iPad and can't wait to start using it. I know excitement and curiosity to discover newly bought things particularly electronic gadgets makes us want to learn everything about them quickly. Unfortunately it does take a little time and practice ( usability) to get yourself pretty familiar with your iPad. My advice is to start with some " how to " video tutorials " available on YouTube and get yourself acquainted with the different specs in your iPad. Now comes the second task which is that of searching for and selecting the apps to install. I compiled the list below featuring some of the fundamental apps you should start with."

5 Must Read Guides for Teachers Using or intending to Use iPads with Students ~ Educational Technology and Mobile Learning

5 Must Read Guides for Teachers Using or intending to Use iPads with Students ~ Educational Technology and Mobile Learning | Teaching and learning | Scoop.it
"iPad, as some argue, is leading a silent but radical revolution in the world of education. It is now being embraced by a budding host of schools as the official learning device in the classroom and though we are still in the embroyinic stages of the integration of this device in instruction, yet the first results coming out 1:1 programs using iPad are promising. You might be already using iPad with your students or may be thinking about using it in the future, but wherever you are in this "iPadded revolution ", make sure you tap into the full educational potential of this versatile gadget . In this same vein, and to help you better make informed decisions on the whats, hows and whys behind your use of iPad in your teaching, I am sharing with you some excellent book apps I have recently downloaded. These could be somthing you would want to read in the coming Christams break. Enjoy"
