Another app with which to create slides. SketchDeck could be useful for those in engineering, IT etc where visually describing complex ideas makes them easier to comprehend - especially if the visual is schmick.

How teachers and students are adjusting to the digital classroom - The Globe and Mail

How teachers and students are adjusting to the digital classroom - The Globe and Mail | Teachers & Technology | Scoop.it

"The kindergarten student, a shy, Mandarin-speaking five-year-old immigrant in the tiny community of Sangudo, Alta., had barely spoken a word during the first three months of class. So her teacher was surprised one day last year when the girl struck up a conversation. The subject of their animated discussion? An image on the screen of an iPad."

This was a surpise! In the beginning of my college experience, I use to think that professors were intimitated by technology because the "older generation" does not understand how helpful it is to the "younger generation".

Tablets are wonderful to meet individual learning needs! How does one keep the students from browsing away from teacher-selected lesson resources? Just wondering if teachers can control divergent browsing with some kind of synchronizing software.

As a potential Math teacher, this article was useful for math lectures and games.  One of the apps listed was a Team Umizoomi math game; as a babysitter for elementary age children, I know they like Team Umizoomi the TV show.  That is definitely an app that children can have fun with while they learn about numbers and operations.

3 Excellent iPad Workflow Sheets for Teachers ~ Educational Technology and Mobile Learning | Teachers & Technology | Scoop.it

"Here is a set of some wonderful workflows sheets Greg Swanson has recently created from conversations with  with Yr 4, 5 and 6 kids. These sheets document how students perform learning tasks using their iPads. The good thing about these materials is that they encourage students self reflect on both the process of how they learn and what they learn. Generously enough, Greg has provided these worksheets free for us to download and use with our students and here is what he said about them :"

A Beautiful Visual on The Importance of Games in Learning | Educational Technology and Mobile Learning

A Beautiful Visual on The Importance of Games in Learning | Educational Technology and Mobile Learning | Teachers & Technology | Scoop.it

Games are very important for learning and James Paul Gee has empirically proved this in his wonderful book " What Video Games Have to Teach Us about Learning and Literacy". Gee argues that games, particularly video games,  require the players to learn and think in ways at which they are not adept. He further states that games provide a life enhancing experience for learners and they also revolutionize the routinized ways of learning through fusing learning and play. You can learn more about Gee's book in this post I have published a few months ago.

Regarding the importance of games and why they are good for learning, I am sharing with you the graphic below which visualizes some of the pluses of playing games for learners. Check it out and share with us what you think of it.

Moving at the Speed of Creativity | How to Share Videos from a School iPad Cart | Teachers & Technology | Scoop.it

"I visited with a K-3 librarian today who recently received a cart of iPads at her school for teachers to check out and use with students. She was unsure how to share videos the students create and save to their iPad camera rolls, however, with apps like iMovie, Puppet Pals, and Sock Puppets. In this post I’ll summarize my recommendations to her, which involve setting up a special Gmail account “for the cart” as well as a YouTube channel teachers and students can publish to with the free YouTube Capture app."
