Classroom turns your iPad into a powerful teaching assistant, helping a teacher guide students through a lesson, see their progress, and keep them on track. With Classroom, you can easily launch the same app on every student device at the same time or launch a different app for each group of students. Managing the Digital Classroom

This is my presentation slide deck with all the links to the materials and resources from my plenary at King Saud University. The presentation looked at how we can resist the changes technology is forcing into the classroom or how we can welcome them, adapt our teaching style to them and make technology a positive forse for change.

In the video below, Marc-André Lalande offers a concise, useful definition that simplifies the idea from hashtags and movements and social engagement and badges and, well, all the buzzwords you hear, into a clear explanation that works not just within education, but any field.

An Introduction To Design Thinking - TeachThought

An Introduction To Design Thinking - TeachThought | Teacher Gary | Scoop.it
The term design thinking gets bandied around a lot these days, but what does it really mean?

For many people, it can almost seem meaningless, a buzzword that helps mystify meaning rather than help sharpen it. Ironically, that’s the opposite of what design thinking should be.

Design thinking is about simplicity in the middle of chaos. It’s about creating as much value as possible for your customers. It’s about serving your users in an intelligent and empathetic method. Most importantly, it’s the idea that innovation has a structure and a rhythm to it, a discipline that can be managed to deliver great results for every stakeholder involved.

Creating new solutions to enduring problems can be difficult, especially if you don’t know where to start. Design thinking gives you the tools and processes you need to focus your efforts where they will add the most value.

Throughout the years many of had their disagreements with technology lowering students intelligence. However, the one of many sites on the internet provides a way for students to improve their intelligence. Ironic right? This add-on provides students to improve their reading skills and speed in reading. However, I have only read that this is a windows product so I am not sure if it works for apple or mac computers. You can take a picture of the text and the website will read it back to you. You can follow along with the text which is the part where it improves the writing skills. There is also an option where the website will tell you what is an noun, adjective, or a noun. It can even be a whole paragraph! There are many other things in this add-on which not only will improve your reading skills but writing skills as well. If I had a windows computer I would use this add-on because I definately need it. This is a great way for my own reading skills and improvements for my essays.

Curious About Design Thinking? Here's a Framework You Can Use in Any Classroom with Any Age Group | John Spencer

Curious About Design Thinking? Here's a Framework You Can Use in Any Classroom with Any Age Group | John Spencer | Teacher Gary | Scoop.it
The term "design thinking" is often attached to maker spaces and STEM labs. However, design thinking is bigger than STEM. It begins with the premise of tapping into student curiosity and allowing them to create, test and re-create until they eventually ship what they made to a real audience (sometimes global but often local). Design thinking isn't a subject or a topic or a class. It's more of way of solving problems that encourages risk-taking and creativity.

Design thinking is a flexible framework for getting the most out of the creative process. It is used in the arts, in engineering, in the corporate world, and in social and civic spaces. You can use it in every subject with every age group. It works when creating digital content or when building things with duct tape and cardboard.
