How do you get employees to learn? Personalize it | Teacher Gary | Scoop.it

In order to keep up with the velocity of the changing workplace and to win the war for today’s talent, organizations must give employees opportunities to learn, grow and develop – and on their terms. Today’s learners, especially millennials, are comfortable with technology, always have a device on hand, and understand that continuous learning and the agility to quickly adapt to change are crucial to career and personal growth.

Applying Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs to Edtech  - Presentation | Teacher Gary | Scoop.it

This paradigm is a useful one for education because it can help to focus us on what education is really for, helping students to realise their own potential and lead fulfilling lives, rather than achieving what can be rather abstract syllabus goals.

The relevance to educational technology is that it can help us decide which tools we choose to use to with our students and how we enable our students to use these tools.

Great tool for teachers to use in the classroom.
Julian F Calvo's curator insight, February 19, 2020 9:59 AM
This is an excellent idea for us to check how we can implement our topics and also, how learners can be interested on due to the fact that we are taking into account all the benefits they can have (this as an example of  the WH questions) and also since they can discuss about what they like to learn and share in classes. In adition, thi is something I can implement in classes since learners will have the opportunity to improve this speaking skill trhough the discussion of this kind of topics and also, the ones their are interested on. Finally, students will be able to participate more ought to the increase of motivation they will have since our duty is to encourage them to use the second language they are learning.
Harold Quintero's curator insight, September 26, 2020 2:37 AM
This is a very complete guide related to critical thinking questions that can allow us to help our students reflecting on the content we present them. These questions are also very useful for teachers in development to keep in mind while planning classes and preparing the material they are presenting to their students as it leads them to better select and adapt the content to students' needs and interests and have them engaged.

Addressing Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs with Technology

Addressing Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs with Technology | Teacher Gary | Scoop.it
Technology is way too often given a bad rap by administrators and educators as a distraction or a hazard for students. When technology is integrated intentionally with foresight and with intention of addressing specific growth-oriented goals, it increases the potential to help students learn, develop, and grow in unique ways. It can be used to help address the needs as described by Maslow.

YouTube hosts a treasure trove of excellent educational content that speaks to the learning needs of a wide variety of audiences. Some of this content is created by dedicated teachers and educators who took it upon themselves to promote learning beyond the traditional walls of their classrooms. For instance, in the area of English language learning, there are numerous language teachers (including EFL and ESL) who have set their own YouTube channels and provide video lessons covering almost everything related to language learning. Today's post highlights some of these channels. The purpose is to provide language teachers with relevant video resources that they can use in their instruction in class. Check out the list below and share with us your feedback in our Facebook page.

Give your students the opportunity to publish their work to a larger audience, and ignight their interest in writing well! Particularly in genre such as fiction, poetry, and areas of self expression, students need more than their audience of one (you).
Here is a simple means for sharing beyond you; and if they solicit feedback, they can improve their writing and perhaps find an untapped outlet for self expression!

How to create your own iPad recording booth for the classroom.

How to create your own iPad recording booth for the classroom. | Teacher Gary | Scoop.it
The creative power of an iPad in the classroom is limitless with its ability for students to show their learning in a multitude of creative ways that look professional. My students love nothing more than to share their knowledge in the form of an iMovie or by using a digital storytelling tool such as Tellagami or Chatterpix or narrating a keynote presentation. But the number one issue we have in the classroom is the background noise when we record these presentations. There is nothing worse than having a fantastic visual product that is let down by poor audio quality, but in a noisy school situation that is a difficult proposition to overcome. So this year we are using our own homemade iPad recording booths.
