Blendspace Joins Wikispaces and TES - Premium Features Now Free! | Teacher Gary | Scoop.it

""Blendspace, formerly known as EdCanvas, is now a part of Wikispaces and TES. The Blendspace service will continue to run as a stand-alone service. The aspect of the merger that has the most immediate impact on teachers is that the premium features of Blendspace will now be free. The premium features allow you to collaborate with other teachers to creation of lessons."

Blendspace is joined Wikispaces and TES and now offers their premium services for free to educators! Why use Blendspace?

* It is easy to organize and share materials.

* The format is visual (which appeals to many learners).

* You pick the topic and you pick the materials: videos, links, images, files, etc.

There are additional features and you may use Blendspace to assess and track student progress. You might consider using Blendspace as a component to introduce blended learning into your class.

This post from Richard Byrne also includes a video that teaches you the basics of Blendspace as well as Flipping and Blending the Classroom.

Philosophy as an academic subject is regularly maligned in popular discourse. Philosophy majors get told that their studies are useless. Philosophy professors find their budgets cut, their courses scrutinized, and their character grossly impeached in propagandistic religious feature films.

Classroom on the App Store

Classroom turns your iPad into a powerful teaching assistant, helping a teacher guide students through a lesson, see their progress, and keep them on track. With Classroom, you can easily launch the same app on every student device at the same time or launch a different app for each group of students. Classroom helps teachers focus on teaching so students can focus on learning.

Making the Jump From Engaging Students to Empowering Makers

Making the Jump From Engaging Students to Empowering Makers  | Teacher Gary | Scoop.it

Mr. Flynn was one of my favorite teachers, who just happened to teach one of my least favorite subjects: Math. Math had never come easily to me the way many English and Social Studies classes had, and so I often retreated from trying and just did enough to get by. By all accounts, Mr. Flynn should never have taken an interest in my learning journey. I spent most of his Pre-Calculus class passing notes or laughing at others goofing around. Then one day we came into class and Mr. Flynn was lying down on the back table. It seemed like a joke, but eventually we found out he had seriously hurt his back. He taught the rest of that class period lying on the back table, pointing to the chalkboard and using a yard stick to make changes.
