Tracy Shaw's insight:

A thoughtful post on the many forms of digital (all things media) literacy (competence or knowledge in a specified area) and the importance for our students to be fluent in this form of literacy. We have begun calling it "Academic Literacy" as we can then weave all forms of literacy together to have students that are college and world ready.

I have subscribed to EasyBib for several years and LOVE that the Gale Databases now make it one click to export the citation info. to EasyBib. Way more students use the databases because of it.

NEPC's "Does Class Size Matter" by D.W. Schanzenbach, Northwestern University

"The critics are mistaken. Class size matters. Class size is one of the most-studied education policies, and an extremely rigorous body of research demonstrates the importance of class size in positively influencing student achievement. This policy brief first reviews the research on class size. Special attention is given to the literatures in economics and related fields that use designs aimed at disentangling causation from correlation. It then documents the recent rise in class size and considers how to compare the effects of class-size reduction with other commonly discussed policy alternatives."

John Shank's curator insight, February 20, 1:54 PM

The change from an environment of information scarcity to over abundance fundamentally challenges the ability of the library to select, create, organize, and facilitate access to resources that advance intellectual discovery and information literacy/lifelong learning skills. So we need to be forward thinking and mindful of how our services evolve to solve the problems and challenges this new environment creates for our faculty, staff, and students.

Sue Osborne's curator insight, February 20, 5:20 PM

Some interesting thinking points here...

Glenda Morris's curator insight, April 8, 1:07 AM

A good presentation reinforcing the point that libraries need to consider creating learner centred collections - to enhance engagement and interactivity.
