Though not an iPad app, it has been compared to the Subtext app on iOS. I wonder how the lack of kinetic interaction impacts literacy and comprehension when using a track pad or mouse.

On recommendation from Mrs. Akin, we have tried this app and love it! You can create custom quizzes and download class data, much like you can with a CPS system. Check it out and see how you like it! There are quizzes already created by other teachers that you can try or you can create your own.

Ivon Prefontaine's curator insight, September 11, 2013 12:00 PM

The term digital native is an oversimplication and is not overly accurate. Research in Australia and England are showing power users in undergrad programs make up about 14% of the students. What about the rest? One thing about Prensky's work is he does acknowledge that technology has to fit with school and learning in an integrated manner.

As I read the article, I realized this concerns about the pace of technology have been with us for some time, perhaps since time began. Hannah Arendt argued the pace of technology had outpaced our ability to speak about it coherently in the 1950's.

Examining the relationship between PLEs and PLNs is useful. My feeling is that thinking about PLNs superceded thinking about PLEs as it draws attention to the social part of social media and Connectivism.
