PHYCAL TO INSTALL A PILOT ALGAE FARM IN OAHU
Phycal facilities comprise a subpilot co-located with their headquarters in Ohio. It is the main research and development facility for the individual unit processes and their integration into full systems for producing cassava ethanol, algal biofuels, and low-cost sugar. Its purpose is to develop and advance Phycal’s processes in preparation for pilot-scale validation

An algae and cassava biotechnology laboratory is located at the Bio-Research & Development Growth (BRDG) Park on the grounds of the Donald Danforth Plant Science Center in St Louis, MO. Its purpose is research and development on their strains of algae and cassava. This effort is targeted at long-term commercial development enablement through biotechnological methods.

The next step to commercial success of algae is to demonstrate our algal oil production system at pilot-scale. To accomplish this goal, the company is constructing a 30+ acre pilot facility capable of producing about 150,000 gallons of oil per year located in Wahiawa, Oahu, Hawaii. This pilot will allow Phycal to complete technical qualification as a commercial product, drive system development, and confirm the ability to produce product at acceptable cost targets.
