Tie social media activity to the bottom line with these four social media analytics tools.

Via Beth Kanter
Beth Kanter's curator insight, March 13, 11:07 AM

This article covers four different tools to measure social analytics:

Google Analytics

Zuum Social (Competitive Analysis for Facebook - expensive $250 per month)

Retweet Rank

Pin League (Pinterest)

Out of all these, the one that caught my eye was the Twitter tool:

ReTweet Rank

What this tool lacks in interface aesthetics, it more than makes up for in helpful data.Retweet Rank is obviously a Twitter analytics tool. While we can still use Google Analytics or our favorite URL shortener to measure clicks to a website link, Retweet Rank shows us a trendline for retweets, the particular posts that have been retweeted, and a list of the most influential accounts to share our content on Twitter.

What It Measures: Here are a few metrics that Retweet Rank provides.

  • Retweet trends over a specific period of time (days, weeks, months)
  • Tweets shared most often within that selected timeframe
  • Accounts sharing your Twitter posts ranked by influence and recency
  • Most common days and hours in which your content is likely to be retreated
  • Words (or topics) found in your tweets that are shared most often on Twitter

Cost: $9/month for the Pro plan

Martin (Marty) Smith's curator insight, March 4, 4:31 PM

Why give away a million dollar idea? Why not? I learned this idea from friends, lost it and found it again from other friends this last Saturday. The idea ties browsers (Chrome, IE, whatever) to the Search Engine Results Pages (SERPs) via a simple App that uses schema Google makes available to anyone.

The net impact of this simple idea is Google becomes your partner in your company's search engine marketing. You get YOUR logo on Google when a "logged in member" is searching.

Three years ago there was too much "login friction", friction now solved by Facebook, Twitter and Google Plus "create an account with social" APIs. What do you owe me if you use Search Engine Gamification to make millions? Nothing but a donation to cancer research would be nice.

I also stand ready to help anyone create this tool FREE and bet I can enlist some of my friends too. Why give away a million dollar idea? SOT, Sign of the Times and not worth anything locked up in my head :).

What Is Visualization?

What Is Visualization? | SYLVIE MERCIER | Scoop.it

This seems like a straightforward question, but it’s proven to be a difficult one to answer. Even visualization researchers – people who think about the subject all day and every day – don’t have a clear definition of what visualization is. Is it synonymous with information graphics? Does visualization have to be computer generated? Does data have to be involved, or can it be abstract? The answers vary depending on who you ask.

To me, visualization is a medium. It’s not just an analysis tool nor just a way to prove a point more clearly through data.

Visualization is like books. There are different writing styles and categories, there are textbooks and there are novels, and they communicate ideas in different ways for varied purposes. And just like authors who use words to communicate, there are rules that you should always follow and others that are guidelines that you can bend and break...

Via Lauren Moss, Sylvie Mercier
James Ferguson's comment, April 3, 3:18 AM
Visualization is not a medium. It is a process of communication just as speaking or writing are processes, A medium for speak may include airwaves, telephones, or recordings - these are the media that support. In themselves medi are technologies Visualizations are not !

Color is a crucial part of our visual experience.

It indicates many things in our lives, from the ripeness of a banana, to how someone is feeling, to which subway line we should be on.

Not everyone sees colors the same way, and colors have drastically different meanings in different cultures, but one thing we all have in common: color is important. These visualizations all show us different things about colors.
