Learning Technology Map 2015

Learning Technology Map 2015 | SYLVIE MERCIER | Scoop.it
It's turning into something of a tradition on the blog to publish my Map of Learning Technology at the start of each year. It's a highly scientific process: i'm sat in a cafe with coffee and a larg...

A nice overview to start off the new year; although a bit buzz-word heavy and a bit too infatuated with hardware for my personal taste. I do agree with the #scaffolding approach, at any rate - it is "methodology and design" (as Julian Stood writes in the article accompanying this map) indeed that will move us forward, not a certain piece of technology.

How the Internet has Changed in the Last 10 Years [Infographic]

How the Internet has Changed in the Last 10 Years [Infographic] | SYLVIE MERCIER | Scoop.it
This infographic visualizes the spectacular rise of the Internet in the last 10 years and how some companies have failed to adapt to the changes.

Here’s an interesting infographic that has been making the rounds across social media for the last two weeks. It visualizes the spectacular rise of the Internet in just 10 years. In 2002, the Internet boasted 569 million users, which translated to 9.1% of the world’s population. In 2012, that number has gone through the roof: There are now 2.27 billion users, or 33% of the world’s population.

Another formidable stat is the amount of time people spend online — in 2002, it was only 46 minutes a day (about the time it took to download four songs); in 2012, it’s four hours a day.

10 years of social media by the numbers [infographic]

10 years of social media by the numbers [infographic] | SYLVIE MERCIER | Scoop.it

Facebook launched ten years ago in February 2004. Social media hasn't, doesn't and won't stay still. As Myspace rises, Friendster declines. The pattern's repeated itself a few times already, and even Google hasn't quite cracked the magic social network formula, at least not yet. The crown currently belongs to Facebook, a company that's made some big, big startup purchases on the way, although Twitter continues to pack (arguably) more influence. A whole lot has happened in the last decade, but we've tried to squeeze the more interesting parts into something a little more visual.

Infographic: 29 Ways To Be Creative

Infographic: 29 Ways To Be Creative | SYLVIE MERCIER | Scoop.it

Creativity is defined as the ability to create, but sometimes, we seem to lose that ability all of a sudden.

Luckily, Jordan-based art director Islam Abudaoud has created a useful infographic that teaches us ways to stay creative.

Titled ‘29 Ways To Stay Creative’, the infographic illustrates the “creative process and methods to keep a person moving forward and motivated to keep doing more”.
