Norm Miller's insight:

Americans are naive since there is no mandatory disclosure the way there is in Europe.   We need labels on homes just as we have on food and cars (MPG) so that consumers can make informed decisions.  Eventually we will also move to time of day billing which will change when we run laundry and discretionary energy use choices.

Carbon tax is gone: Repeal bills pass the Senate

Carbon tax is gone: Repeal bills pass the Senate | Sustainable Real Estate | Scoop.it
The Abbott government says it has not left Australia's environmental policy in limbo with the repeal of the carbon tax and it will push ahead with "plan A" to convince the Senate to support its Direct Action policy.
Norm Miller's insight:

I assume the reason behind this move is the concern over global competitiveness, but that has not been made clear yet.   If so, it does suggest the need for developed and emerging countries to consider another Kyoto treaty, which BTW the US did not sign.  A carbon tax seems more workable than carbon credit trading, since there is less auditing required.
