Green Car Congress: DOE extends closing date for RFI on Total Costs of Ownership of Future Light-Duty Vehicles

The US Department of Energy (DOE) has extended the closing date for the Request for Information (RFI) on Total Costs of Ownership of Future Light-Duty Vehicles (DE-FOA-0000592, earlier post). Responses should be emailed to TCORFI@go.doe.gov by 11:59 p.m. ET on 30 January 2012. The RFI is a joint effort of the Fuel Cell Technologies Program (FCTP), Vehicle Technologies Program (VTP), and Biomass Program (OBP) within DOE-EERE.

In winter, a blue sky day is the ideal time to appreciate trees, both native and exotic, with ornamental bark. Some like crape myrtle, kousa dogwoods and Stewartia species (shown here) offer not only handsome bark that shines in winter but beautiful blooms too, during the growing season. And certain trees like the native American sycamore or the crape myrtle 'Natchez' look good no matter what the season.

Greenversations » Are Green Business More Likely to Attract Your Green?

During the holidays, I was waiting in line at a major retailer. While waiting, I noticed that they had several displays near the cashiers highlighting the retailer’s commitment to protecting the environment. In fact, they prominently displayed their actions in favor of sustainability practices such as recycling/minimizing waste, energy efficiency, emission reduction, and encouraging environmental values. I was so impressed on seeing how committed the company was to reducing its carbon footprint nationwide that I visited its website to learn more about their green practices.
