Kar Hang Cheung's curator insight, January 30, 2013 12:21 AM

One of every five children in Colorado Springs, live in poverty. The homeless population has been increasing rapidly, due to one reason, the lack of affordable housing. This is only part of the reason, the bigger problem, lies with the income of the family,an illness or loss of job can put them on the streets already.I also agree that it takes the community to overcome this issue and that it is necessary to let the less fortunate know about the difficulty of helping them.

Garrick Tay's curator insight, January 31, 2013 11:55 PM

people now adays have lack of affordable houses which makes life difficult as everyone would one to finish work and go home to a warm and comfy sheter for the night , but now prices are rapidly rising and most people cant afford to buy houses this days

Zhiyang Liang's curator insight, January 20, 2014 9:13 AM

The homeless are perceived not as poor and vulnerable people who lost their homes but as criminals by other people is a common issue, however the wise government would reject such criticism instead to codify law and spend money to build accommodations, training them etc. in order to protect those people. I think those people who are homeless is quite pity, they may prefer to spend the night outside, no matter how cold the weather, than to face potential violence or being robbed of their meagre possessions.“Last year, Rhode Island became the first state to pass a state-wide homeless people’s bill of rights. Building on the community organizing that led to this success, social justice organizations around the country have been working on bills that aim to protect the rights of homeless people.” And the long-term answer of government is a coherent housing policy for the poor and vulnerable.
