#Sustainability
Sustainability is the capacity to endure. In ecology the word describes how biological systems remain diverse and productive over time. Long-lived and healthy wetlands and forests are examples of sustainable biological systems. For humans, sustainability is the potential for long-term maintenance of well being, which has ecological, economic, political and cultural dimensions.

By its very definition, an emergency operations center should be indestructible and impenetrable to elements like fire, snow,#tornadoes, #hurricanes, seismic activity or any other natural or manmade disaster.

A steel, reinforced concrete #dome can be an accommodating compound and a safe haven.

Samantha Turner's curator insight, March 23, 10:22 PM

I found this article interesting because we have been covering a lot of stuff on globalization and how corporations need to implement CSR and green actions into their business plans. Its what their consumers want and creates buy power. I found it a little shocking that Canada in comparison has spent for little on green infrastructure.

I agree with this article that Canada is not developing and implementing these changes as quick as our competition and neighbours. I think a lot of this turns back to our economy and how dependent we are on our oil industry. Why would be support green changes when so much of our GDP are based on the opposite.

I think Canada has a lot of walls to climb over before they could successfully embrace a green culture like many other countries. We support other industries especially the oil, which receives billions a year. We should be developing our country so that it not only better our own environment but for our neighbours.Costs to go green have dropped drastically by 83%. I think that our government is slightly ignorant for not encouraging themselves and other Canadians to engage.
