4 Tips to Build a Greener on Lighting

4 Tips to Build a Greener on Lighting | Sustain Our Earth | Scoop.it

When remodeling your kitchen, think about the ways you can cut back on lighting without sacrificing the atmosphere.
It seems natural that installing fewer lights would lead to lower costs, but that's not necessarily the case. One green lighting strategy is to place several lights around the kitchen and install different switches for each of them. That way, you can choose which lights you need at which times. It's also smart to install dimmers or motion sensors on lights. Both options cut down on unnecessary usage and cut costs.

Impronta idrica e servizi ecosistemici | Sustain Our Earth | Scoop.it

Stephane Bilodeau's curator insight, October 2, 2013 4:56 AM

Carbon footprint reduction strategy

Shrink That Footprint is a resource for squeezing more life out of less carbon.

We are an independent research group that provides information to people interested in reducing their climate impact.  Our core focus is understanding, calculating and reducing personal carbon footprints.

While your carbon footprint may be small in the scheme of things, the decisions people around the world make about housing, travel, food, products and services pay for 70% of global emissions.

Shrink That Footprint is about how we can harness this power with actions, technologies and innovation to create low carbon lifestyles that are both desirable and consistent with a stable climate.

Good point Ralph! It is Our Government (us) that did and does spend our money for medical research to help make American treatments great......not our HMO or for profit health care insurance payment industry. Think what could happen if more money went to research instead of insurance company share holders.

Going Green at the Great Park: Solar Decathlon 2013

Going Green at the Great Park: Solar Decathlon 2013 | Sustain Our Earth | Scoop.it

For the first time since its inception in 2002, the U.S. Department of Energy's Solar Decathlon is being held at a location other than the mall in Washington D.C.

The competition challenges collegiate teams to 'design, build, and operate solar-powered houses that are cost-effective, energy-efficient, and attractive', and the twenty projects featured this year do just that by showcasing innovative green building technologies, products and strategies that visitors can incorporate into their own homes.
