Opinion: Record snow in a warming world? The science is clear — The Daily Climate | Sustain Our Earth | Scoop.it
Stephane Bilodeau's curator insight, February 9, 6:15 PM

"The science behind this is clear: Warmer temperatures cause more water to evaporate into the atmosphere, and warmer air holds more water than cooler air. The air's "water-holding capacity," in fact, rises about 7 percent with each Celsius degree of warming. This results in air that becomes super-saturated with water, often bringing drenching rainfall followed by flooding or – if it is cold enough – heavy and intense snowfall. "

Gut Bacteria Regulate Happiness

Gut Bacteria Regulate Happiness | Sustain Our Earth | Scoop.it
APC scientists have shown that brain levels of serotonin, the ‘happy hormone’ are regulated by the amount of bacteria in the gut during early life.

This research has multiple health implications as it shows that manipulations of the microbiota (e.g. by antibiotics, diet, or infection) can have profound knock-on effects on brain function. . . .

Interesting . . . especially considering that gut regulation and other emotion-related processes are affected by early-life bonding (attachment . . . relationships). You can't separate bodily health from mental health in the end.
