Unique to humans, and universal across time and cultures, the trait that ties all humans together is our love of stories—especially fiction. It comes so naturally that writer Jonathan Gottschall doesn’t think scientists are paying nearly enough attention to it. Via Sakis Koukouvis Delete the scoop?

You've probably heard of Pi day held on 14 March, and might even know its rival Tau day on 28 June. But these circular numbers aren't the only mathematical constants worth celebrating. Just in time for today's date, known as Phi day, musician Michael Blake has composed a soundtrack in recognition of the golden ratio, represented by the Greek letter phi (see video above).

From the surface of our skin to deep inside our gut, humans are teeming with microbes. The trillions of microorganisms that inhabit humans make up 1 to 3 percent of our total mass and play a vital role in our everyday functions and overall health. More than 100,000 species of bacteria have been identified in the human body, though the population distribution of bacteria can vary greatly from individual to individual. Deciphering the complexity of the human microbiome will help determine new methods for health management and treatment of disease. Via Sakis Koukouvis Delete the scoop?

I love the idea of aligning with a purpose but of course I have questions when I hear certain things like… "What does it mean to 'Transcend self interest'?" It is like thinking it necessary to "moving beyond" the need to have blood coursing through my veins. "Creating relationships where everyone is getting richer" sounds like a situation where people trade goods and services freely and exchange value for value. What a great idea! It could be like a free market where men trade without taking advantage or being taken advantage of. Seems if men understood self interest as something not needing transcendence but needing acceptance as a fact of life the rest may follow.

Thank you Tony Franciskato. I agree that these phrases are mere a positive thinking and not so a practical solution for a daily life. But we need inspiration to overcome our self-interest and I believe that this video is opening that "door".
