This might sound like a no-brainer, but you’d be surprised. If you’re not explicitly telling your readers to share your posts, they’re probably not going to.

How to fix it: Sidebars like ShareThis and AddThis are extremely easy to install on your blog and make sharing exponentially more convenient for your readers by providing simple buttons to click that lead to precomposed social media posts. If you want to take it a step further, pick out a few tweetable tidbits from within your blog posts and include a Click To Tweet link. (Tweet this tip!)

Ivon Prefontaine's curator insight, October 28, 10:54 AM

When I began blogging, I had a situation arise where a colleague was quite critical of something I posted. Despite the fact it was self-effacing, he seemed to take it as a personal attack and another person jumped in with criticism, as well. It might have deterred some, but I decided to press on and remain an active, creative blogger which is more than I can say for those early critics.

Why Being Human on Social Media Is the Best Strategy You'll Ever Have

Why Being Human on Social Media Is the Best Strategy You'll Ever Have | Surviving Social Chaos | Scoop.it
Tactics can be great. And tools can save you time. But ultimately sharing on networks is about building real relationships with real people not a company or its brand.
donhornsby's insight:

(From the article): People want to know you, yes, but posts can't be all about you. Everyone knows what it’s like to have a conversation with that person who just will not shut up about himself. (Get me out of there!)

The fix: Make members of your community feel welcome, understood and heard. This means celebrating with and listening and responding to the people in your audience. Share content that solves their problems. Ask for user-generated content (and do something with it). And participate in the conversation.

I found this insightful for various. reasons. In my own experience I have noticed that a lot of firms are impersonal on their social networking pages. The tweets, post, pictures, etc. seem to be factory made. The point this article is trying to make is that being human; connecting with people is extremely beneficial. Social networks give you an  opportunity to connect with your consumers. You're able to respond to them right away with any issue they have and connect with them on a human level.

Melanie Birch's curator insight, October 27, 1:21 PM

Small-to-medium-sized businesses make up the bulk of Pinterest's business accounts. 80% of these companies have less than 10 employees. The platform is completely visual, and companies will sometimes using this as a branding tool. Since Pinterest allows users to pin the things they like, it makes the site a little more intimate. It is personalized and an individual experience.

There are a few things to keep in mind while growing your board on Pinterest. One is Personality. You want your content to match the vibe of your business. This could help customers build a bond before they even met the people involved with the business. Another is simplicity. If it isn't easy for people to pin your content, they probably won't at all. An easy way to do this is to add a Pin It or Follow button directly to items on your website. This will help see which trends are most appealing to customers. Visibility is another important aspect. If you promote your pins, they are more likely to be shared, saved, and liked. Lastly, you should be able to measure your posts. By using Pinterest Analytics, you can tell who your audience is (gender, location, devices they use, and what else they pin about). You can also see which of your pins are doing the best or better than others.

Craig Broadbent's curator insight, October 27, 7:47 PM

Like many social media platforms, a strong strategy followed by diligent followup, measurement and analysis can help almost any business grow!

Align Your Brand Messaging, Start From the Ground Up

Align Your Brand Messaging, Start From the Ground Up | Surviving Social Chaos | Scoop.it
As your brand continues to further understand and embrace the multitude of effective online channels, it is crucial to be consistent with your messaging and align your marketing efforts. There are still far too many organizations conveying inconsistent messaging in their online presence. This is an issue that necessitates attention.
donhornsby's insight:

(From the article): Brand promises are things your brand guarantees to its customers.  When working through brand promises, keep these questions in mind:

What value does it add to their lives?

What need does it fulfill?

What problem does it solve?

You do not need to set a limit on the number of promises your brand makes; whatever they are, though, just be sure your brand promises are authentic and consistently delivered on.
