The 7 C’s of a Successful Social Media Strategy

The 7 C’s of a Successful Social Media Strategy | Surviving Social Chaos | Scoop.it
Finding out where your community interacts on social media is the first step of a successful social media strategy.

A lot of people and companies decide, after using social media for a while, that they need a strategy. Of course, that approach is like putting the cart before the horse. To ensure success, think about your social media strategy in the context of the seven C’s.

1. Community

Like all good communication, it is best to start by determining your target audience. Where do they spend time online? What social media channels do they use? Before your social media efforts can take shape, you should listen and learn about your community.

The New Rules of the Social Age

The New Rules of the Social Age | Surviving Social Chaos | Scoop.it
The Industrial Age has ended. In this guest post, Ted Coine shares 3 rules for leaders to ensure their organization survive, and thrive, in the Social Age.

It’s the Social Age now, and it will be for quite some time to come.

donhornsby's curator insight, September 11, 11:19 AM

(From the article) In the Social Age, it’s all about trust.

Like empowerment, most leaders get this exactly wrong. The trust imperative isn’t about getting others to trust you as a leader: it’s all about trusting your people to show up at work like the mature, responsible adults you hired them to be.

This means tearing up rulebooks, discarding policy manuals, and backing off the stifling metrics Industrial Age management used to make sure no one was stepping out of line.

In the Social Age, there is no line to step out of. In this economy, only the inventive will survive – and only trusted employees have the room they need to invent your future.

Jacob Froelich's curator insight, September 11, 4:01 PM

The history books will be written about the actions and decisions we make today! Exciting!

Lisa McCarthy's curator insight, September 14, 7:46 AM

What used to seem very good leadership practices in the Industrial Age was good, or at least efficient. But the Industrial Age is over. And it’s not coming back. It’s the Social Age now, and it will be for quite some time to come.

Email Marketing Vs Social Media

Email Marketing Vs Social Media | Surviving Social Chaos | Scoop.it

Email Marketing and Social Media seem to always be going head to head these days. I am here to argue that you shouldn’t look at the two as competing forces, but as partners for a common goal. Email marketing and social media both have seen great growth in the past few years, and they can be used in harmony together to help you create a lead generation machine. Before we go through that I think it would be best to give you an overview of email and social media today.

Now the battle shun out whom Email or Social Media, who can work more seamlessly for your business?

John Lam's curator insight, September 8, 11:22 AM

This interesting article discusses about marketers finding e-mails and social media as effective ways in communicating with its customers, as well as generating new leads. The article also gives some data about the effectiveness of either the e-mail method or social media.

I think the article is pretty interesting because I would think marketers have moved away with the traditional e-mail method, and more towards social method. I guess some marketers are still very traditional and old-fashion.

Could Content Marketing Replace the Human Sales Team?

Could Content Marketing Replace the Human Sales Team? | Surviving Social Chaos | Scoop.it
B2B buyers don’t want your brand’s help making their decisions. They are independent.
donhornsby's insight:

(From the article): A well-written whitepaper, case study, or website can accurately convey all the information a buyer might need to make his or her decision. Does it replace a human? Of course not. Neither does the self-checkout lane at the grocery store—that’s why there is still a person helping customers checkout and fielding problems. But it allows those people who want to make the purchase on their own, to do just that.

This is why content continues to be the major force behind all marketing and business efforts. For business transactions to happen, whether on a B2C or B2B level, you have to give the modern buyer the option to make his or her decision independently.

If buyers falter, or there isn’t content that answers their questions, businesses still need to be ready to hand-hold them through the process. That is where a human can step back in (even if it’s digitally) in the form of customer support.

How to Maximize Your LinkedIn Publishing Exposure

How to Maximize Your LinkedIn Publishing Exposure | Surviving Social Chaos | Scoop.it
Have you tried LinkedIn's publishing feature? This article I'll share five tips for optimizing your content for LinkedIn publishing.
donhornsby's insight:

(From the article): No matter where you publish, ask yourself what you would like the reader to do next, and then include that call to action (CTA) at the bottom of your article.

Walter Chen, CEO of iDoneThis, wanted more people to download his team’s new ebook via an opt-in page. He had a single post reach the front page of a really popular channel and take off. Since he had used a strong CTA at the bottom of the post, he ended up with over 1,000 ebook downloads.

A compelling CTA is incredibly easy to add to your post. Don’t leave readers with a seven-sentence byline plugging all of your social media profiles. End the article with a single CTA that points people to a compelling landing page.
