This article provides many facts about how oil has effected the benthic and fishery community. However, much of this is beyond my ability to understand completely and to use. There were a few things I was able to pull from this article.

This article provided information about the many ways oil spills affect shorebirds, all leading up to decreasing the population. Although primarily focusing on the shorebirds affected by the BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico 2011, it also provided specific examples related to different oil spills that have occurred. The article went further than the marine ecosystem to explain how other ecosystems could be affected by the oil spill due to migratory birds being exposed to the oil.
