Damon Offord's curator insight, July 5, 2013 10:13 AM

I am not so sure about this list... While I understand the inclusion of C.B radio receiving, something like the 'dimensional portal' of Doorman actually seems pretty useful. Not every character needs to be combat focused to be interesting. I also don't get the inclusion of Squirrel Girl to be honest.

What Superheroes Would Post to Instagram

What Superheroes Would Post to Instagram | Superheroes | Scoop.it

Having fun taking pictures of slushy drinks in highball glasses on perfectly distressed hardwood tables and hashtagging it #happyhour?

What about posting pictures of the sky and clouds that look like every other picture of the sky and cloud and commenting how 'this is just how I feel right now'?

These are the Instagram pictures we see everyday! But that's because we're mere humans. What would superheroes post to Instagram?

Preview: Primates — Good Comics for Kids

Preview: Primates — Good Comics for Kids | Superheroes | Scoop.it

We love Jim Ottaviani’s science graphic novels here at Good Comics for Kids, and his latest one is a real treat. Primates: The Fearless Science of Jane Goodall, Dian Fossey, and Biruté Galdikas, illustrated by Maris Wicks, is a delightful book that distills the story of the three women who went out and studied primates in their natural environments. The book deals not only with the science but also the researchers’ lives and some of the real-life problems they faced (poachers, itchy butts, and Louis Leakey’s unwanted attentions, which all three deftly brushed aside). Check out our preview and look out for the book on June 11.

This resource has room for improvement, but I think that it is an interesting concept to personify fonts.  What I REALLY would have liked would be for the explanations to also tell me how the 'superhero fonts' make people feel.  That is what is really important when choosing a font.  Perhaps Mr. Olin has plans for that.  This is still worth sharing 'as is'.

The winners of the Cybils (Children’s and Young Adult Bloggers’ Literary Awards—should’t that be the CYABLAs?) were announced last week, and although there are only two graphic novel categories, three graphic novels took the honors.
