Five Ways To Use Twitter’s Favorite Button

Five Ways To Use Twitter’s Favorite Button | Super Social Media | Scoop.it

If all you do on Twitter is send tweets and retweet, you’re missing out on a significant – and very useful – aspect of the network: favoriting.

The favorite button is not Twitter’s most popular feature, and it doesn’t get as much press as retweeting. But it’s growing in popularity, as more users figure out ways to make favorites work for them.

One of Stephen Covey’s The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People is to Begin with the End in Mind.

This infographic does just that – recognizing that you need to establish your goals first when looking to your social media marketing strategy.

It doesn’t simply speak about conversions – it speaks to the other business uses of social media: Brand Marketing, Thought Leaderhsip, Service and Sales Prospecting. Much of the strength of social media doesn’t come from the immediate push… it’s the echos and volume that are established over time.

How to Use Twitter Hashtags to Get Noticed

How to Use Twitter Hashtags to Get Noticed | Super Social Media | Scoop.it

Hashtags are a great function which allows Twitter users to tag tweets to give more context to them. Hashtags can also be used as a way to designate the tweet to particular conversation or chat. In sports, many commentators use hashtags as way to get people who are watching the telecast to ask them questions. For example, if the commentators name is Jack, Twitter users who are viewing the match can tweet questions to Jack by adding a hashtag such as #AskJack in their tweet.

How People Use the Internet [INFOGRAPHIC]

How People Use the Internet [INFOGRAPHIC] | Super Social Media | Scoop.it
Today, around the world more people have mobile phone subscriptions than have access to electricity and safe drinkable water. Today, almost a third of the world's population uses the internet (a 528.1% growth since 2000!

So what are we doing with all the time we spend online, and how do we know all that time is being spent in useful ways?

For many of us, the internet is among the first things we experience after we wake; in fact, 75% of users are online before 9 a.m. Over 75% of people in the US own a laptop, 53% a smart phone, and 31% a tablet. Email is the most common action performed by people on their laptops, while search is the top action for mobile phone and tablet users. 72% of people like to play games on their tablets while 70% use their mobile phones for social media. Where do we use these devices? 72% of people use their mobile phones while traveling, and 64% use them in restaurants and coffee shops. As for tablets, 88% of people use their devices in the living room, 79% in the bedroom.

10 Tips to Grow Your Facebook Audience and Interaction

10 Tips to Grow Your Facebook Audience and Interaction | Super Social Media | Scoop.it

Roughly 80 percent of businesses are on Facebook, according to a recent survey.  Local or national based, Facebook can improve your company on multiple levels.  How do you amplify your reach and exposure?  Here’s a list of ten ways to help improve your Facebook page and the amount of interaction you will see on your page

Via Alessandro Rea
more...
Alessandro Rea's curator insight, November 12, 2013 5:45 PM

1.       Advertise in-store and online: put a Facebook badge on your website.  Hopefully people are visiting your website, and then in turn they’ll go and visit your Facebook page.  Advertise at your company, even if it’s a headquarters.  Be as visible as possible.

2.       Let your partners know.  This can be done by changing your email signature or business card.  Include a Facebook badge that includes a link to your page.  The word should spread about your Facebook page in no time (assuming you are following the next couple of tips below).

3.       Timeliness.  Make sure you are posting on Facebook at times when people are online, and will be able to view your post.  For this to happen you must know your audience – when are they online?

4.       Post multiple times.  Some people only log on during the morning, or at night etc.  Alternate your posts from morning to night.  Keep a schedule that tracks what posts were going out in the morning, and which were going out at night.

5.       Photos are awesome.  Photos require no work for the viewer, and are widely known as the best way to gain interaction among followers.

6.       Videos are a close second.  This requires more work on the end of the viewer.  Use an attractive description, and make sure there is a thumbnail…otherwise don’t use it!  Keep it simple and short; make the video speaks for itself.

7.       Utilize Facebook polls.  They aren’t widely known about, but when they are used you will be generally surprised about the results.  Make sure the vote is worthwhile, and not a question that has no “meat” to it.

8.       Make use of analytics.  Facebook Insights is made available to you directly on your page. See what kind of people you are reaching, who is looking at your posts, what kind of posts are doing better than other, and learn from the work you have already done.

9.       Share other companies’ content.  A share for a share can go a long way.  Just starting out, or have a couple followers?  Share someone’s photo, video etc.  Tag them in the post and give them credit – maybe they’ll follow you and share some of the cool content you are pumping out!

10.   Specials.  These reel people in!   Specials, discounts etc. are all great ways to get people to like your page.  Even better are pages that force people to like your page before redeeming the offer (there’s software for this).

Combined, these 10 tips will take your Facebook page from average to outstanding and you don’t have to be a social media whiz to utilize them!

Social Media Anxiety...Get Over It

Social Media Anxiety...Get Over It | Super Social Media | Scoop.it

Social Media Anxiety
Got to love social media. First social media has to prove it matters and isn't just a game then people worry about "doing it wrong". Yes there are "wrong" ways to create social media content...remember when we all started sharing exactly what was happening in the moment? Don't do that anymore.

Next we had the quote stage and now we seem to be getting the idea of how to surf social media. Some still have anxiety about jumping in or doing the wrong thing.

The half-life a tweet is hours. Remember you are in an ocean of content, so surf don't try to hold, compress or rule it. Here is another anti-anxiety pill for SMM. Look around, I've yet to follow or RT someone so brilliant I shouldn't be allowed in the same social space (lol). Yes they are out there, but I may never find them :).

Social media is the great level. What you can SEE and FEEL fast is we all have the same obsessions, fears, strengths, weaknesses, doubts and frustrations. Social shows our humanity in all its glory and aspirations.

Here is the other issue. If you are an Internet marketer, and who isn't these days, then social media anxiety can HURT. Don't let your "Sistine Chapel" perfectionism stop you from making social media mud pies. M

With the influence that social media has in the 21st century, it is important to understand the benefits and negative aspects that it can bring upon education. In regards to positive influences, it allows students to be able to contact teachers with ease (not so much in primary education, but at university level), and allows the sharing of information to be easily accessed. However some negative aspects could include harassment and safety or this information being exploited. It's important for students to grow up with knowledge around the use of ICTs and the use of social media but more importantly to use it properly.

Take A Look At What Happens Every Single Minute On The Internet

Take A Look At What Happens Every Single Minute On The Internet | Super Social Media | Scoop.it
Early last year we learned that one hour of YouTube is uploaded every second. It was a bracing reminder of just how many people are spending their time online simultaneously.

Created by rewards site Qmee, the infographic "Online In 60 Seconds" is a pie chart that shows off the sheer amount of online activity that takes place every single minute. The amount of YouTube videos uploaded has already increased from January 2012's 60 hours per minute to 72. Additionally, over 1.8 million things are liked on Facebook, and 278 thousand bon mots tweeted. Not depicted in the chart: the amount of work that is going undone while all of these items are being viewed.
