Industry push to raise visibility of home energy efficiency improvements

Industry push to raise visibility of home energy efficiency improvements | Super Energy Efficient Retrofits for Existing Homes | Scoop.it

Everybody in real estate knows the rap against “green” and energy efficiency improvements to existing homes: Owners can invest a lot of money and save on utility bills, but then when they go to sell they often find it’s tough to get paybacks through higher prices on their homes.

Thomas Peterson's insight:

There is nothing in the President's plan that I am against.  However, there is something missing in the plan that I AM APPALLED AT.  While our homes and commercial buildings use 40% of the energy consumed in the U.S. and simple and existing methods are availble to cut that energy use by 50 to 75%, we can cut total U.S. energy use by 20 to 30%.  DID WE MISS SOMETHING MR. PRESIDENT?

This book contains what every existing homeowner and those planning a new home NEED TO KNOW for their financial future.

While most homes are not Super Energy Efficient (a.k.a. SEE), there will be an ever increasing financial reason to retrofit those existing homes and the ability to do so is easy and already exists. In planning a new home, SEE aspects are even easier and more economical to include. SEE homeowners can immediately save money above the cost of any additional financing costs for SEE (lower home ownership costs = more $ for personal savings). In addition, they have more comfortable & healthy homes to enjoy, help to stimulate and assure the long-term viability of the local & national economy, and help to save our environment.
