I've obviously heard it used in the context "return on investment", but not in this context. It seems so obvious that I feel I should have been aware of it before. For me it's a powerful expression of the benefit of employee engagement. Ultimately isn't having engaged employees about growing their contribution to the business OR increasing the return on individuals?

I came across this great two page PDF by People Essentials that I wanted to share with you. It contains 14 results supporting employee engagement’s financial effect on organisational performance. The links between engagement and performance were set out during the 1990s at Harvard by James Heskett and colleagues. Their research established that employee satisfaction drove higher productivity and better employee retention and that these in turn led to better value for customers, customer satisfaction, repeat business and recommendation.
