Absolutely on the money. Caring is critical as is connection which is much deeper than communications.

This has been discussed for years yet we don't seem to understand that there are real tangible costs that affect a company in the short term but more importantly they affect them in the long term.

When it comes to pay and reward, 'fairness' is paramount - in the UK, John Lewis has recently given a 17% bonus to all its employees. Every employee is a 'partner' and benefits, financially (and in other ways) when the business is successful. Fair and equitable. - http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-21697603

I could only chuckle when I read this article. It is sad but it is understandable why we have difficultly coming to grips with relationship capital. Delete the scoop?

Companies should always consider any decision from all angles. Looking ahead at the impact on profitability may well be one of those considerations but should profitability be the only consideration?

We have a very short-sighted point of view in management today. We are bogged down in tactical expression and execution and ignoring the strategic which is very dangerous in my book.

Points to ponder for the existing and new managers in the group. Ignore at your own risk, and the risk of your company. Delete the scoop?

Recognition is a key component of Employee Success. What gets recognized get repeated. Recognizing employees for hitting targets and exemplifying corporate values reinforces behavior that impacts the bottom line. According to recent research by Aon Hewitt, organizations with high engagement rates are 78% more productive than disengaged organizations. The powerful combination of engaged employees and brilliant performance is critical to business success.

Interesting stats on the effects of engagement on performance. Also worth noting the advice on recognition leans towards little and often. Delete the scoop?

Here is a wonderful article about how consulting firm Quimica Visual works with corporations with storytelling to help them change their cultures. Quimica Visual's co-founders are Eva Snijders and Montecarlo. I've come to know and respect Eva quite a bit through my curation process. What I like about this post is the model they share, along with their experiences of working with storytelling and other art forms in their work with clients. Anytime we can have windows into other people's work, we benefit. So many thanks for sharing! Enjoy this quick piece, and get a taste of what colleagues/story professionals are doing in Europe. And many thanks to fellow curator Hans Heesterbeck for finding and sharing this piece. Delete the scoop?
