OpenEd: The Leading K-12 Standards Aligned Open Educational Resource Library

OpenEd: The Leading K-12 Standards Aligned Open Educational Resource Library  | Future Ready Librarians | Scoop.it

"OpenEd, the leading K-12 educational resource library, offers over a million assessments, homework assignments, videos, games, and lesson plans aligned to standards including Next Generation Science, Common Core Math and English Language Arts, TEKS, and many more. We think teachers should be able to find any online resource they need, all in one place, and all organized by what is most effective for students. We also think assessments and homework should be graded automatically to save teachers time. Plus, we sprinkle some OpenEd magic on our resources- for every question a student misses, OpenEd returns a hand-picked, targeted video or game to help the student master that specific concept. That's instant, personalized remediation to help save teachers time!"

Mary Reilley Clark's insight:

The site is searchable by subject, and most resources can be assigned to Google Classroom. There are assessment sheets which can be assigned within Classroom as well. Lots to explore, but I did see a few older resources that needed updating, so be aware.

Becoming Future Ready — Taking the Challenge | Not So Distant Future

Becoming Future Ready — Taking the Challenge | Not So Distant Future  | Future Ready Librarians | Scoop.it

Carolyn Foote writes: "We need to work on this faster.  It’s really past time to stop deferring our own growth because every year we wait, students are passing through our hands who might have benefitted even more from our work.   The Department of Education has opened a giant door for librarians in the Future Ready conversation–now we need to walk through that door (if we haven’t already) and get on board."

Mary Reilley Clark's insight:

Trust Carolyn to sum it all up for us. This post is a great starting point for setting your own Future Ready goals!

21st-Century Libraries: The Learning Commons

21st-Century Libraries: The Learning Commons | Future Ready Librarians | Scoop.it
Libraries become a different kind of learning destination when schools reimagine them as open, transparent spaces that invite student communication and collaboration.
Mary Reilley Clark's insight:

My favorite part, bolded and in italics: "When every student has the potential to carry a global library on the device in his or her pocket, the role of physical libraries may become even more important, not just a place to house resources, but one in which to create meaning from them."

Are We Future Ready Librarians?

Are We Future Ready Librarians? | Future Ready Librarians | Scoop.it

Stony Evans writes: There are numerous Future Ready components that we can strive to provide for our learning communities through our library services. In fact, if we could aspire to show evidence in each of these areas, we would have an exemplary school library program. In our school library program at Lakeside High School, we still have several components that need growth. It is a continuous cycle of improvement. We never arrive, but we must always strive to improve."

Mary Reilley Clark's insight:

Stony Evans gives a great analysis of his library programming. I am looking at what we do in our library to see which of the Future Ready areas we're making progress in and which we need to address. Having the Future Ready information at hand to support my requests for our remodel really helped!
