New Cars of 2013: The Nissan Qashqai and the Ford Fiesta

Choosing a new car can be difficult. It is a matter of balancing needs and desires against price. There are hundreds of models currently on the market, each with different options and promises. Comparing two models can sometimes be like trying to decide between two apples. Very similar and comes down primarily to what looks the best. Other times it is like comparing an apple to an orange. Which one better suits your appetite? The Nissan Qashqai and the Ford Fiesta are a good example of this. Both cars are very different and are designed for different needs. The Qashqai is a compact SUV, which means it is larger and designed for more carrying capacity. The Fiesta is considered a compact car. While it has a fair amount of room in it, it is much smaller than the Nissan. The Qashqai was created for its size as much as anything. It's a bit of a weird one because it's not a full blown SUV - which is ideal for the city. It's a fantastic for people who want a SUV but do not want the crippling MPG that goes a long with it. It is design for anyone who wanted a sporty option while carrying the family or goods about, it boasts a larger engine than the Fiesta. The Qashqai’s MPG is respectable, even in the city. It is an excellent vehicle for people who want a bit more size and versatility for their day to day activities, or comfort on long trips. The Fiesta, on the other hand, is designed more for carrying people than goods. While it can seat as many people as the Qashqai, it might not do so quite as comfortably. While the engine is smaller in the Fiesta, it still has a fair amount of pep. With far better mpg, the Fiesta is also capable of getting people where they are going for less money at the pump. Both vehicles are very good at what they do. They can get you where you need to go with a decent amount of comfort and style. The question on which you would prefer really comes down to, how big?

The teasers for the commercial pose a question "why drama?" and are already available online at www.cars.com/whydrama. In 2012, Super Bowl was the most watched TV show in US history and there couldn't be a better time and place to launch a major advertising campaign. "With a brand-new campaign, we wanted to build excitement for our ad and save its reveal for the Super Bowl," said Linda Bartman, Cars.com's Chief Marketing Officer. Cars.com site's mission, in addition to simply helping people to sell and buy cars, is to simplify the whole process, provide unbiased editorial content, reviews and of course, expert advice to the consumers. They try to help the buyers make smarter buying decisions by offering them help formulating opinions on what would be a good car to buy for what they need it for, and what might be the smart price for it. "We have heard from car shoppers that buying a new car can be overwhelming, and sometimes even stressful, " Bartman continued. And the idea of the new advertising campaign is to help the shoppers with drama-free car shopping. Cars.com is helping car buyers to take all the drama out of their car buys and make it a lot more pleasant experience. Disclosure: This post was requested by an advertiser.

2013 Best Resale Value Electric Vehicle is Chevrolet Volt

Since 2003 Kelley Blue Book has been giving out their annual Best Resale Value Awards. The awards are given out in three main categories - Best Brands, Overall Top 10 Winners and Category winners. The winners are chosen by Kelley Blue Book's staff of automotive analysts based on the projections of KBB. Even though the awards tradition was started just a bit less than a decade ago, Kelley Blue Book has been publishing their Official Residual Value Guide already since 1981, making them a trustworthy source of industry-information. The information from their Guide is used by governmental agencies, financial institutions as well as the automotive leasing community. This year the Best Resale Value Electric Vehicle Award went to Chevrolet Volt. But that's just one category and one winner within the 20+ different category winners. For the entire list, make sure you check out KBB's website at KBB.com . Some of the winners in the "2013 BEST RESALE VALUE: TOP 10 CARS" list are Honda Civic, Lexus LX, Toyota 4Runner, Jeep Wrangler. For more information about Kelley Blue Book, the awards in general as well as the winners of the 2013 awards, see their website and the player below. According to KBB, the winners are chosen based on the "projected future auction values for vehicles in average condition with 75,000 miles at the end of a five-year lease or ownership."
