Beauty Look Of The Week: Chloe Moretz at Styloko.com

Beauty Look Of The Week: Chloe Moretz at Styloko.com | Styloko Ltd | Scoop.it

We’ll happily admit to our growing obsession with Chloe Moretz. Quite possibly the most stylish young star out there, the actress consistently features in our weekly best dressed round ups, and has quickly become the fashion darling among some of the world’s best-loved brands.

Last week was no different for the 17-year-old, who attended the 2014 Young Hollywood Awards in a gorgeous tonal red lace Valentino mini dress, featuring a sharp collar for added structure.

Keeping her beauty look fresh and youthful, we’re completely envious of her flawless porcelain skin (quite the feat for a teenager), with just a hint of warm peach blush on the apples of her cheeks to create a soft glow.

Beauty Look Of The Week: Jenna Dewan-Tatum at Styloko.co

Beauty Look Of The Week: Jenna Dewan-Tatum at Styloko.co | Styloko Ltd | Scoop.it

Taking centre stage at the season two launch of her TV show Witches of East End, Jenna Dewan-Tatum had us instantly jealous of her lustrous brunette locks and sultry makeup on the red carpet at Comic Con.

Making an impact with her sexy smoky eyes, the actress highlighted the inner corners with a soft glistening shadow for a bright-eyed look, with false lashes and groomed eyebrows framing her peepers perfectly.

Sporting a fresh summer glow on her flawless skin, the new mum added just a hint of soft rouge lipstick, instantly warming her dark features further.

But it was her voluminous, glossy hair that really had us swooning, with loose, natural-looking waves parted to the side for an effortlessly glam look that managed to completely outshine her co-stars.

Best Dressed This Week: 25/07/14 at Styloko.co

Best Dressed This Week: 25/07/14 at Styloko.co | Styloko Ltd | Scoop.it

As the latest Marvel blockbuster gets set to hit screens worldwide, its stars began the promo tour this week, with actresses Zoe Saldana and Karen Gillan already vying for serious sartorial points after just two appearances.

Sporting a gorgeous pixie cut, former Dr Who star Gillan opted for a sleek, sophisticated look for the LA premiere of Guardians of the Galaxy, offsetting her fab red hair with a rich purple Prada dress featuring a sheer yoke and pretty gold belt, before rocking an edgy Louis Vuitton look from the AW14 collection in London, complete with a PVC belt and tough leather boots.

Choosing a completely different style to her co-star in the capital, Saldana draped her rumoured-to-be baby bump in soft printed chiffon, with the floor length Valentino gown complete with a full ruffled hem and delicate neckline for a truly feminine effect.

Elsewhere, showing off her petite frame in a fifties style Preen frock, Glee star Lea Michele looked classically chic at the Giffoni Film Festival in Italy, as Maggie Gyllenhaal shone in a monochrome ankle length Roland Mouret dress at the screening of her latest flick, The Honourable Woman, in New York.

Spotted: Lizzy Caplan’s Sophia Webster Lacey Sandals at Styloko.co

Spotted: Lizzy Caplan’s Sophia Webster Lacey Sandals at Styloko.co | Styloko Ltd | Scoop.it

She’s the designer who’s stolen the hearts – and feet – of many an A-lister, and it seems Sophia Webster has found another new fan in the form of Lizzy Caplan, who sported her footwear to the TCA Summer Press Tour Party in California last week.

Choosing the strappy gladiator style Lacey sandals in a chic rose gold tone to go with her intricately embroidered Marchesa dress, the actress added yet more metallics to the look via her dark bronze clutch and matching smoky eyes, accessorising with diamonte drop earrings.

With the strapless dress cut to a demure mid-calf length, we love how the ankle-tie shoes – complete with tassels – add a tough-luxe edge to the look, and feel more unexpected – and striking – than a simple pump.

And can you imagine how great these sandals will look with distressed boyfriend jeans and a white tee, too? Versatility (and, ok, sheer beauty) gets us every time.

Where To Wear: Outdoor Picnics at Styloko.co

Where To Wear: Outdoor Picnics at Styloko.co | Styloko Ltd | Scoop.it

When summertime hits the city, the last thing anyone wants is to be stuck inside, especially when the sun’s out in all its glory.

So as soon as we have a bit of free time, or when lunch hour strikes, the first thing that comes into mind is, of course, an alfresco picnic. But with a limited amount of green spaces here in London, it’s often hard to find an unoccupied bit of grass, particularly when just about everyone else has got the same plan in mind.

Fed up with the constant disappointment of turning up to Soho Square or Victoria Park, only to find them jam-packed or horrifically littered, we set out to find lovely but less ubiquitous spots in the busy capital, perfect for setting up a typically British picnic and enjoying a bit of sunshine. Whether you’re looking for a quick and under-the-radar lunchtime stopover or a serene space for afternoon tea, we’ve rounded up three of the coolest picnic hotspots you should be hitting, as well as perfect outfits to wear to each.

Instant Outfit: The Jumpsuit at Styloko.com

Instant Outfit: The Jumpsuit at Styloko.com | Styloko Ltd | Scoop.it

Take this season’s breakthrough trouser shape – wide-legged and cropped – combine it with an all-in-one, and what do you get? Well, a culotte jumpsuit, of course! AKA? One of the most versatile in-between season piecesthat will take you from day all the way through to night.

While they may not seem particularly easy to come by, look carefully and we have no doubt you’ll come across several hidden gems. But if time’s of the essence and you’re after a quick solution, luckily for you we’ve found just the piece that exudes both timelessness and plenty of contemporary appeal.

What we love about this sleek black crepe jumpsuit from Moschino Cheap & Chic is its understated simplicity and fluid, semi-structured silhouette, which makes it the perfect pairing to low-key pool slides for day, as well as elegant stiletto sandals for when the sun goes down. For now though, we’re making it our cocktail hour go-to(seeing as there’s a few more of those swanky soirees coming up now that the sun’s firmly got his hat on).

Play on the eighties vibe of the jumpsuit by belting in the waist with Moschino‘s gold-tone logo and chain embellished belt. Then add a lively punch of colour – and a bit of va va voom – via Aquazzura‘s cut-out sandals, rendered in the softest scarlet cashmere suede.

Opt for a snakeskin effect box clutch – this one from Mango boasts a shoulder chain matching that on the belt – and a bold, gold-tone cuff, further pushing those retro-kitsch boundaries to maximum effect. Lastly, add a vampy red pout and a slick centre-parted bun for an ultra elegant outcome with an edge. Now, where‘s that glass of champagne?

Shopping Tips for Fashionistas

Shopping Tips for Fashionistas | Styloko Ltd | Scoop.it

It’s been over a month since the sales started, and we’re sure by now you’ve managed to bag a few fabulous bargains along the way. But, with those ‘final reductions’ signs still flashing, there will be those who continue to browse, despite the fact there’s nothing left they really want, just to impulsively spend a fortune on a bag they wouldn’t have bought otherwise and a pair of shoes that are half a size too small.

A savvy shopper, however, will save her pennies for the fresh new season pieces that have already started to drop on the shelves.

Now, you see – while everyone else is still too preoccupied with the sales to notice - is the perfect time to hunt down those effortlessly transitional pieces - like those cool ankle boots and especially chic blazers - that will prove year-round hits.

So what should you be investing in?

1.    Grey Basics

Not only does grey ooze an easy-wearing sensibility, it just so happens to be one of next season’s most prominent colour trends. So now’s a great time to start stocking up on those off-duty wardrobe staples – think lightweight knits and tees – as well as modern timeless pieces like tailored blazers, streamlined trousers and full skirts.

2.    Classic Coats

When it comes to shopping between seasons, it’s all too easy to stock up on leather jackets - but why not get in early and bag a great coat instead?

From weather-proof trenches to timeless peacoats, there’s a plethora of beautiful, timeless styles waiting to be snapped up that will last you for years to come. And if you’re concerned that it’s too early to invest in outwear right now, remember: the early bird catches the sartorial worm.

3.    Wear-forever Ankle Boots

Every girl worth her wardrobe has a pair of black ankle boots that work just as well off-duty as on. But how do you track down the perfect pair? Pre-autumn season: savvier shoppers snap their’s up early so they can bring them out just in time when the weather turns - plus, they work brilliantly in summer too with a feminine sundress.

4.    Timeless Shirts

A good shirt will always be useful, regardless of current trends or season. Our advice? When you spot a beautiful silk blouse, or an immaculately constructed cotton shirt, invest immediately. Wear them now under sundresses for a smarter summer look, and team them with everything from jeans to full skirts in early autumn. Whether worn alone or used as a layering tool, they’re the ultimate wardrobe workhorse.

5.    New Classic Bags

When it comes to bags, the trick is recognising the new must-have styles that will become cult modern classics. Keep an eye out for less ubiquitous colours, too, that feel far less obvious and understated.

Look out for Michael Kors‘s new Brompton Mini satchel - it’s classic shape and considered size is elegantly effortless - as well as the Drew by Chloe,  Fendi’s By The Way tote, and Proenza Schouler‘s Buckle to get in on the action early.

A Modern Take On Iconic Style: Introducing Gucci’s Bright Diamante Collection at Styloko.com

A Modern Take On Iconic Style: Introducing Gucci’s Bright Diamante Collection at Styloko.com | Styloko Ltd | Scoop.it

There are some things that are so synonymous as a pairing that it’s hard to imagine one without the other. It’s a notion that rings especially true for brands, who have made it their business to create something so instantly recognisable, it becomes a powerful symbol of luxury and lifestyle.

Take Gucci, whose diamante pattern etched into butter-soft leather bags has been wooing the hearts of women since its debut in the 1930s. It symbolises timelessness, quality, and classicism – and now, it also represents the epitome of modernity, thanks to the new Bright Diamante collection.

For pre-fall 2014, the famous Italian house has taken its iconic motif and reinterpreted it for the modern woman – and the result is a powerful combination of 21st-century design with a wear-forever sensibility.

The collection sees some of Gucci’s most classic bag shapes – including the bucket shoulder bag, the clutch, the top-handle tote, the bowling bag, and the Boston bag – reworked in brilliant bright colours, like bumblebee yellow, fuchsia, red and turquoise, for a thoroughly fresh (and especially covetable) outcome.

We particularly love the easy-cool charm of the bucket bag – one of this season’s key shapes – in earthy red and vibrant yellow for a splash of summer colour, but if understated style is your thing, you’ll love the clean white or classic navy colourways that feel instantly contemporary and fuss-free.

Frankly, if you’re in the market for a new piece of arm candy, you could do far worse than investing in one of these subtly striking modern classics.

Non-Precious Jewellery That’s Perfect For The Beach at Styloko.com

Non-Precious Jewellery That’s Perfect For The Beach at Styloko.com | Styloko Ltd | Scoop.it

You’ve chosen your perfect bikini, selected your ideal summer sandals and invested in a chic cover up, but when it comes to donning a little bling at the beach, things start to get a little trickier.

While we wouldn’t even entertain the thought of wearing our best bijoux to laze among sand and sea, we can’t deny that a few carefully chosen pieces create a low-key chicness that’s especially appealing if you plan on sipping Pina Coladas from a pineapple all afternoon. So here’s the truth: the savviest shoppers are the ones that know when to invest and when to scrimp; there’s a time and a place for precious jewellery, but the beach certainly isn’t it.

So, how do you assess what pieces are both pretty and practical to wear a la plage, but that won’t leave a gaping hole in your heart if the inevitable happens? Here’s our 101:

Avoid anything that’s clumpy or heavy – understated is key when it comes to beach insouciance - and instead look to daintier, discreet pieces for an effortless outcome (think delicate pendants and secure studs). Metals will tarnish if they come into contact with water, so don’t spend a pretty penny – the high street is full of purse-friendly options that look fab and won’t leave you panicking when the waves splash. Things like colourful woven friendship bracelets, meanwhile, add instant holiday charm and aren’t at risk of tarnishing.

The Culotte: Get On Board With Pre-Fall’s Hero Piece Now at Styloko.com

The Culotte: Get On Board With Pre-Fall’s Hero Piece Now at Styloko.com | Styloko Ltd | Scoop.it

Every once in a while, an achingly retro silhouette or trend – that you had almost forgotten existed or were even fashionable - re-emerges and takes even the most seasoned fashionistas by surprise. The ‘granny’ midi skirt was one of them, so was the camouflage print, and now, for this year’s version, the seventies librarian’s trouser of choice: the culotte.

Yes, admittedly, these cropped wide-legged wonders have been staging a slow and steady comeback since the beginning of spring, but, as is often the case with these things, it’s taken a while for them to really settle into our wardrobes and become just like any other pair of pants that we can throw on without giving so much as a thought to.

Everyone’s Wearing: Off-Kilter Braids at Styloko.co

Everyone’s Wearing: Off-Kilter Braids at Styloko.co | Styloko Ltd | Scoop.it

Twisted, knotted, tight or loose: however you want to style ‘em, braids are back. True, braids never really went anywhere, but the way in which they’re being de- and re-constructed this season does feel particularly fresh.

Dominating the autumn/winter 2014 catwalks back in February, pretty plaits made an appearance across all four cities, with designers vying for the title of most creative ‘do.

Sarah Burton at Alexander McQueen took styling inspiration from Star Wars’ Princess Leia – resulting in a surprisingly chic spiraled look – while both Marchesa and Simone Rocha opted for chunky corn rows, with three to five plaits spanning models’ heads.

Unsurprisingly, our favourite style-setters have already jumped on the new look, with everyone from Emma Stone to Diane Kruger rocking their own versions of the summer braid 2.0, giving us some serious hairspiration in the process.

They make quite a stylish duo when stepping out together, so it’s no surprise Karlie Kloss and Taylor Swift caught the eye of photographers when heading out for lunch in New York last week.

Both dressed casually in denim and plain tees, the singer dressed up her shorts with a pair of nude pumps, as her model pal chose monochrome flat sandals to wear with her white skinny jeans.

Co-ordinating their outfits further with classic black Dolce & Gabbana totes, the pair looked casual yet cool for their afternoon date; Kloss accessorised further with dark sunglasses, while Swift sported her signature cherry red lip.

Complementing each other’s outfits without looking too matchy-matchy, we love to see famous friends with serious sartorial tastes.

Not quite there yet? That’s ok, you still have plenty of time to get into the gaucho stride. Because it looks like this key separate will be continuing their reign well into next season. And with everyone from Proenza Schouler toValentino giving culottes the seal of approval by showing them in their pre-fall (and main) collections, tracking down your perfect pair couldn’t be more straightforward.

While you wouldn’t be entirely inaccurate for thinking that not all cropped flares are for everyone, choose right and they can be surprisingly flattering.

How To Wear Your Holiday Tunic in The City

How To Wear Your Holiday Tunic in The City | Styloko Ltd | Scoop.it

We’re all about getting more bang for your buck - why shouldn’t you be able to wear your pieces around the clock? But while some investments are incredibly versatile, translating easily from one season to the next - or one event to another - others can take a little more creative, savvy styling to help them go that extra mile.

Take holiday wear, for example. While we’re certainly not suggesting strolling through the city streets in your skimpiest bikini, there are some things that can work just as well in the suburbs as they do in the sunshine on your favourite sojourn.

Enter: the tunic. The ultimate cover-up when it comes to holiday lounging, they’re the perfect lightweight alternative to a floaty chiffon kaftan, giving polish to the prettiest of poolside looks. But how do you wear the classic piece beyond the beach?

As ever, the catwalk provides our first stop for inspiration, with Diane von Furstenberg showing slinky silk animal print versions, paired with matching trousers and bold gold jewellery for a luxurious yet striking look, while Tory Burch took a more low-key approach, pairing a laser-cut white tunic with simple silver loafers for a stylish weekend-worthy outfit.

Our tip? Create a streamlined silhouette with a pair of softly tailored cropped trousers - their structure will offer smartness while keeping you cool in the heat - and add a chic pair of this season’s must-have shoes - the mule - for a modern, elegant edge.

Accessorise with metallic silver jewels for a touch of glamour, and add a sleek colour pop clutch for playful yet polished appeal. Finish with a slick of matching matte lipstick to instantly transform the look from day to night.

The perfect way to ease yourself into post-holiday life, no?
