25 iOS Secret Features You Likely Didn’t Know About | Redmond Pie

25 iOS Secret Features You Likely Didn’t Know About | Redmond Pie | Stuff for Me | Scoop.it
While it’s true that iOS started out as a relatively basic operating system for the iPhone and iPod touch, the software and its list of features have grown and matured over the years. Nowadays iOS is feature rich, so much so that we’re willing to bet that there are quite a few things hidden within iOS that lots of people don’t know even exist.

With that in mind we set about putting together a list of features and tools within iOS that we didn’t think everyone would know existed. Initially, we kicked the idea off with a handful of items for our list, but eventually it grew into a list of no fewer than 25 tips and features that we hope will surprise at least some of you, ranging from hidden Siri commands to special Emoji.

8 iPad Apps to Help Your Child Become a Better Reader - teacherswithapps

8 iPad Apps to Help Your Child Become a Better Reader - teacherswithapps | Stuff for Me | Scoop.it

"The iPad has been a great tool for education since it debuted in 2010, thanks in large part to an abundance of apps and games that blend information with entertainment. It’s portable enough to use around the house or on the road, and it’s simple enough that kids can use it without getting lost. It’s also been a great tool for teaching children to become better readers. There are many apps available that parents can use to help their kids improve their reading skills significantly, whether they’re just starting out or brushing up on some basics. Here are some of the best:"

19 Dr. Seuss iPad Reading Apps Organized By Text Level - TeachThought

19 Dr. Seuss iPad Reading Apps Organized By Text Level - TeachThought | Stuff for Me | Scoop.it

"Elementary readers–both early, emerging, and independent–are all likely familiar with Dr. Seuss.

From the sing-song meter and mesmerizing cadence, to the outrageous narratives that keep readers engaged, Dr. Seuss books are a staple for elementary school class libraries, and children’s bookshelves at home.

Bringing him into the 21st century are reading apps–usually digital versions of books with mild interactivity added on. Listly user Katherine Page Burdick has gone through the trouble of linking to each of these apps on the iTunes app store, and further separating them by independent reading level. Brilliant! If you agree, give her a follow on Listly letting her know."

36 Math Apps For Elementary School Students From edshelf - TeachThought

36 Math Apps For Elementary School Students From edshelf - TeachThought | Stuff for Me | Scoop.it

"As more classrooms adopt mobile devices such as iPads, teachers and technology integrators are faced with the question: “What apps do I install?”

That is quite a hefty question too. There are over 90,000 iOS apps in the Education category of the App Store. Since apps that teachers can use fall into other categories too, the number of choices is well above 100,000. Does your head hurt yet?"

It is not the product/tool that determines if it ought to be added. What/how does it comlement ans supplement waht the teacher is trying to accomplish with each student. So i woud train the teacher in a few of these and leave it up to her.
