Posted on Orange Sport UK - February 26, 2013 "Matt Kuchar described it as an "incredible feeling" to win the Accenture Match Play Championship in Arizona on Sunday. In tennis it would be a huge story if the world's 23rd-ranked male or female player - currently Sam Querrey and Su-Wei Hsieh respectively - won one of the biggest titles going. In golf it comes as no surprise at all to see Kuchar win the Accenture Match Play Championship, certainly not at the end of a week which had world number one Rory McIlroy lose to 64th seed Shane Lowry, Tiger Woods go down to 63rd seed Charles Howell and none of the top seven seeds even make it to the last 16. Kuchar's victory makes it eight different winners in the first eight events of the PGA Tour year, while on the European Tour - the Match Play counts for both - nine tournaments so far this season have produced nine different outcomes. "Every week is a great opportunity," said the sport's newest world champion after beating holder Hunter Mahan 2&1 in the final in Arizona. Kuchar is developing a superb match play record - in this event if not at the Ryder Cup, where in his two singles games so far he has been beaten 5&4 by Ian Poulter at Celtic Manor and then 3&2 by Lee Westwood in Chicago. Win either of those and Europe would not have been celebrating, but he has been a semi-finalist, quarter-finalist and now the champion at Dove Mountain in the last three years. "I'm not sure I can explain how excited I am to have won this tournament," the 34-year-old gushed. "Match play I find to be such an amazing, unique format, so much fun to play and so much pressure. It seems like each hole there's so much momentum riding and so much pressure on every hole. "To come out on top after six matches with the top 64 guys in the world it's an incredible feeling."
Kuchar is one of golf's good guys, someone who really appreciates playing a sport for a living where the rewards are so huge.

When my brilliant Quant friend Melinda Thielbar explained how Linkdedin is using gamification to clean their data I was stunned. Stunned at the sheer genius and power of LinkedIn's little endorsement game. Today I confronted the two Martins. The Martin I THINK I am and the Martin who IS. Fascinating conversation and all from a little game. Brilliant.

Here are the best articles from across the web that I can find on using stories and storytelling in business. I've chosen them because they actually make a contribution to our knowledge and wisdom about stories, show us how to apply stories to growing our businesses, or give valuable how-to tips. I weed out all the junk. And besides, who needs another post in why storytelling is important?? Where's the beef?? We want the meat! I've written reviews of each article to share what I like best, what you can get from reading the article, or what may be missing in the article. How To Find A Topic: Click on the Filter tab above, and type in a keyword. All the articles with that keyword will appear. I may occassionally review an article that I think is problematic as a way to educate us all, although most I will simply pass over. If you wonder if I've seen an article that is not included here, send me a message and I'll respond. After doing biz story work for over a decade (and with a PhD in Folklore) I hope you find many great insights and tips here. Many thanks for visiting and enjoy the articles! And I hope you will also visit my website for more tips and tools, & take the free Story IQ assessment so you can see how well developed your storytelling skills and knowledge is: http://www.proprofs.com/quiz-school/story.php?title=storytelling-skills-ni-part-

A peasant here on Tuesday defeated a wealthy businessman and landlord and was elected the district president of Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf (PTI). With elections for the 72 union councils of the district having been held three weeks ago, the intra-party election process in Attock is now complete. The chairman of the PTI district election commission, Rafique Hussain Niazi, confirmed that peasant Waheed Murad garnered 432 votes while his rival Sardar Mumtaz Khan, a landlord, received 360. Murad had the support of Malik Suhail Khan, running for NA-58 Attock-II, and former MPA Syed Ejaz Bukhari, who is contesting PP-15 Attock-I. Rana Liaquat Ali Khan, who was elected unopposed to the position of district general secretary, and former state minister Malik Amin Aslam supported Mumtaz Khan.

Political violence in the country claimed the lives of 163 people in 37 incidents from February 16 to February 22, up from preceding week's 106 and 89 the week before, says the Free and Fair Election Network. Another 225 people were also injured. Two of the 37 incidents were direct observations made by Fafen's District Long-Term Observers (DLTOs). Civilians, again, constituted the majority of the 388 casualties - 126 people killed and 218 injured. In Quetta, a sectarian attack killed 94 civilians. The civilian deaths increased almost 80 percent from last week, when 70 people were killed. Region-wise, 99 people, including five militants, were killed in Balochistan and 180 injured. Sindh was the second most violent region with 26 people killed and 14 injured, mainly in targeted attacks, followed by sectarian violence and attacks on political party workers. In Fata, 26 militants were killed in two aerial bombings while four security personnel sustained injuries in an attack.
