GIVING THANKS: A Lawrence Parent Gives Thanks
to Lawrence School
"Five years ago, I never could have imagined what a positive impact Lawrence School would have on me and my family. In 2007, I was recruited to join the physician staff at the Cleveland Clinic Children’s Hospital. We were living in New York at the time, and our daughter, Carly, was attending public school. Carly has significant learning disabilities, and we became increasingly concerned that public school was not going to serve her well forever.
After returning from the Cleveland interviews, the first thing we did was Google “learning disabilities Cleveland,” and we found Lawrence School. Carly visited Lawrence a few weeks later, and her reaction to her shadowing day was, “awesome!!!” The transition for Carly, and us, was seamless.
Over the last five years, Carly has emerged as an extremely confident, self-advocating and organized student. At Lawrence, she’s been able to make friends, and participate in athletics and clubs. More importantly however, she’s met so many other children and young adults who struggle with school… just like she does. Carly now looks forward to going to school every day, and our family feels so fortunate to be part of the wonderful Lawrence School community...."
