Top 10 new resources (at least new to me) from 2011...I'll release one or two a day for the rest of year. Coming in at #10, is this fantastic link that is an excellent way to compare data from different countries. This link compares MANY countries' demographics in a very personal manner. Instead of just using impersonal (and to many student inaccessible) raw data, this site transforms the statistics into numbers that relates to their lives helps to foster geographic empathy in the classroom discussions about development. And in population! Look at differing family sizes, life expectancies, etc. and it paints a demographic picture of life in certain countries.

Globalization discussions about raising disparity within countries often overshadow the growing inequalities between countries. What qualifies as middle class in the United States can be the equivalent of an upper-class lifestyle for many nations around the world. The same can be said in comparing what the poor in America have access to in comparison to many developing countries.
