A Dollar and A Dream

A Dollar and A Dream | Student Panhandlers | Scoop.it
In order for me to attend my dream college, I need to raise $17,000. I only ask for 17,000 people to sponsor one dollar to contribute to this campaign.
Tina Genick's insight:

A great example to all student panhandlers (crowdfunders) out there. By using a crowdfunding platform in conjunction with social media he was able to raise enough funds just falling short of his goal, but still enough funds. Congradulations and good luck to you Marquise Cornish!

Indiegogo mulls equity crowdfunding, but only if rules won't 'stifle innovation' - Financial Post | Student Panhandlers | Scoop.it
Danae Ringelmann, co-founder of Indiegogo, said she is "excited" about equity crowdfunding, but her organization may not pursue the option if rules handed down by U.S. and Canadian authorities are too rigid to allow her platform to adapt its implementation or that could "stifle innovation."

Student Panhandlers Looking to raise funds and raise awareness

Student Panhandlers Looking to raise funds and raise awareness | Student Panhandlers | Scoop.it

Graduating students from Ontario trying to raise funds for both College and University. Let's show them we care!

Tina Genick's insight:

STPH "can you spare some change" was thought up by a single mom struggling to come up with a way to help her son attend university. I spent hours, days, and weeks researching the crowdfunding platforms and read a ton of articles. Each article I read were about how students were using them but finding beyond that of their friends and family no one was helping. Their profiles just weren’t being seen.

So I came up with the idea of Student Panhandlers a place/presence on the web solely dedicated to crowdfunding students.

We will verify their requests to prove legitimacy. We will socially market them by sharing their crowdfunding profile links to the right people. What we are hoping to achieve is helping those students in reaching their tuition goals.

We are also looking for volunteers in other communities who would like to be involved in helping us spread the word globally.

The old saying it takes a village to raise a child still stands true only “The village has become a community, and the community has become the world”. Help us help students realize their dreams can come true.

The money I raise here will assist in sending two featured students to university, marketing, building and maintaining website, social sites and for advertising costs in raising awareness. Our goal is $300,000.
