Nothing can quite compare to the freshly-printed smell and the wrinkled spine of a book.
Martin Hughes's insight:

I do much of my reading via screens. As much as I prefer a book in my hands, the convenience and cost elements (among other things) are starting to favour electronic text. I still buy more academic books and I make extensive use of the library. However, I used to almost exclusively read from the printed page. Over the past couple of years, the screen now features in about 80% of my reading. Quite a change in a fairly short space of time.

Some tips on finding student accommodation. If you're going into your second year, looking for a place to live, it can be a bit of a minefield. If you have doubts or concerns, speak to your Student Union peeps and see what advice they can give. Some SUs get in solicitors who will give free legal advice. It's worth checking what is available to you before taking the plunge. Or worse, spending loads on legal advice when you may not have to spend a penny!

After you’ve finished not doing the washing up, could you come in late again and leave the back door open? Cheers.

One year, I wanted to nab the biggest room in a rental place. I didn't have a weird sense of entitlement, honest!

 

When the drawing straws method was proposed, I offered to pay more instead. Two solutions on the table, so it's good to explore what will work for everyone. Luckily for me, the offer to pay more went down fine.

 

And I'm still good friends with those housemates to this day. I think that's a good sign...!
