During my first year teaching Middle School students in the early 90's I quickly realized it was essential to learn how to connect with them. In order order to be innovative I had to be a risk taker. I profiled each of my students. They filled out "Personal Information Sheets" which provided me the information I needed to know that made them "who they were".

Although diurected toward uiniversity/college students, it all applies to K-12 educators. Yes, even the office hours. I would suggest US students spend less time in school and the educators spending more time in research and development and office hours for students AND parents!
