Sandi Cornez's curator insight, October 28, 2013 5:33 PM

Movement/exercise is critical for overall brain health and wellness. Recent research reveals that exercise promotes neurogenesis; your brain's ability to adapt and grow new brain cells.

During exercise nerve cells produce proteins that stimulate the production of another protein in the brain called Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor which stimulates the growth of new neurons and helps protect existing brain cells.

Physcial activity produces biochemical changes that strengthen your body and your brain - and in areas associated with memory and learning.

Find out how fasting can trigger brain rejuvenation by reading this article. And limiting or avoiding your sugar intake along with exercise is effective for protecting memory and warding off depression.

And are you aware that by focusing on pushing, pulling, and lifting your own body weight, you can improve your fitness without joining a gym?  Watch the video for suggestions.
