Rob Dyrdek Expands Entrepreneurial Reach To Present Largest Winning Purse In Skateboarding History - Forbes | Street League Skateboarding | Scoop.it
After working in the skateboarding industry for nearly twenty years, in 2010, Rob Dyrdek had an idea to reshape the landscape of street skateboarding.  Recognizing at the time, that because of the way in which skateboarding contests were held, that...

There is no doubt that Rob has done a lot of good in the business of skatebaording. With Street League, he has brought the entertainment aspect of skateboarding to a whole new level. It has become custom for my friends and I (who skateboard) to gather and watch the finals or even prelims of every event. We never had this kind of attitude towards contests like the X Games and to be honest, I am a little saddened towards the partnership with the X Games this year. While this does has its benefits, I already have seen some differences that take away from the more raw aspects of street skateboarding. I just wish that Rob would have left it "by skaters, for skaters".

One thing I noticed in this video is that Luan did not seem to practice his tricks the way he attempted them in the finals. This may have been his downfall in my opinion because he chose to do his tricks over the rail, which adds an extra mental aspect as well as physical aspect to the difficulty of the tricks. Maybe he did practice those tricks and were just not shown in the video, we do not know. I am convinced if he had done his 4 tricks (switch fs flip, switch bigspin heelflip, hardflip, and fs flip) he would have been in really close contention with Nyjah.

Congrats to T-Puds for placing his first time in SLS. My only advice is to take off that hat so you aren't messing with it every time you land a trick!
